the drums are beating in Denver for an absolutely unheard of coach firing. No one gets fired inside the season of their first year.
But i have seen Hackett's first 2 weeks now described as the WORST career start ever. And it's hard to disagree.
The play calling. The decision making. the complete lack of preparedness. The game management. there is nothing there. And that's 100% on the HC. He's in real trouble already.

He won't get as much time for learnings as some lucky coaches

@mariner4life The Broncos schedule gets really brutal at the end of the season - in the final 5 weeks they play the Chiefs (twice) as well as Chargers and Rams.

@mariner4life The Dolphins scored 28 points in the 4th quarter to win by 4 points with Tua throwing 6 TDs!
Just caught up on this game. Was pretty entertaining and enjoyed the finish. A career night for Tua. I think I heard he matched Super Dan for throwing 6 TDs. Not bad for a young fella.

I'd like to see Buffalo win it all while most of the players of their great 90s teams are still alive to celebrate it. They still have to go through KC but they are a juggernaut right now.
Of course they are trumped if this story ends at the SB

@sparky this is peak entertainment.
Has been interesting going from watching Rugby to turning on the league - a simpler, more structured game, but damned if the presentation and accessibility isn't massively higher. NFL takes it to another level.
The stats are just nuts; they had one on a team that hasn't lost at home to a QB with 'O' in their name, and the length of the streak. Like WTAF. Who's getting paid to find this shit out.
-
found it! Streak now broken, stood at 20.
Since the start of the 2021 calendar year, the Dolphins are 0-9 when the opposing starting quarterback doesn't have an "o" in his last name. Conversely, they've won 11 straight against quarterbacks whose last name includes an "o." This has held true for 20 STRAIGHT GAMES. The last time it didn't happen was Week 16 of the 2020 season, when Ryan Fitzpatrick's miraculous completion helped lift the Dolphins over the Raiders and signal-caller Derek Carr.
-
@nzzp haha reminds me of the commentator from the baseball movie Little Big League
An interesting side note; that’s the 14th one-run game for the Tigers already this season. Tops for any team north of the Mason-Dixon Line, whose home games are not played in a dome.
-
that stats from teh Bills v Dolphins are fucking crazy
this season is all over the shop

Would have to be some concern in Vegas.
After a strong finish to last season with an interim coach to make the playoffs the Raiders are 0-3 with new head coach McDaniels - who failed as a head coach in Denver a decade ago.
preseason the talk was if the AFC West could get 4 teams in to the playoffs.
If Denver can't beat the Niners (and i see no reason why we can) then the entire division will be 4-8

Cripes talk about a cripple fight.
Russell Wilson and Jimmy G were awful.
Broncos prevail 11-10 in a woeful game.
Shanahan is such a weird coach.
On one hand he manages to get the 49ers to the Super Bowl (and nearly another) with a limited QB in Jimmy G.
On the other hand it's the 49ers defense that's carrying the team. The offense looks awful and as the offensive guru Shanahan has to take the blame.
-
@KiwiMurph Denver are friggen terrible. And yet somehow the Niners were worse
Jimmy G and a 4th quarter turnover, name a more iconic duo, I'll wait.

I'll wipe that game before watching then.....

Dolphins star QB Tua got concussed on Sunday (they called it a 'back injury') was allowed to play Thursday night and then this happened.
NFL lead the way in a lot of things - not in regards to concussion management.
This makes me think of Any Given Sunday and how James Woods played the rogue doctor.
