After a season where Flores probably exceeded expectations, or at least didn't do nearly as poorly as a bunch of coaches, he got the sack much to the surprise of many pundits.
Well, Hue Jackson has come out and said he's got some evidence he was asked to tank as well.
Strap in folks, this shit could get real. The NFL lawyers are world class though, and have avoided discovery at all costs so far. Will be interesting to see if other folk join the class action suit.

Washington new team name to be announced tomorrow.
By all accounts it's going to be the Washington Commanders.
sounds like a team from Any Given Sunday
Commanders confirmed.
Can you imagine the time and money spent on googling every reference to Commanders, looking through history books, convening focus groups and committee after committee to ensure it doesn’t have even the slightest hint of anything attached to it.

Who does Eric Bienemy have to kill to get a HC job?

It can't be just because he is black.... Sure he has Mahomes, but you can't tell me he shouldn't have a HC job already. Just baffling and another example why pundits in the US feel that the owners are taking the piss over the Rooney rule

What I don't quite understand is teams like the Bears going for a defensive head coach. You have a young QB in Justin Fields - the risk you run of having a defensive coordinator as a head coach is you end up recycling offensive coordinators/offensive systems if they are successful as they get picked up for head coaching jobs elsewhere.
Look at what happened to Alex Smith at the start of his career - he had a different coordinator/system every year for the first five years or so of his career with two defensive head coaches (Nolan/Singletary). At least with an offensive head coach you can keep the same system even if you lose the offensive coordinator (see the 49ers this year).

Crazy really. Is it incompetence or racism? I dunno. But as you say, in a league with all these young QBs and where offense rules, how the hell do Bienemy and Leftwich not get HC gigs?

conservative old-school thinking.
Defence is still important. Being able to score 25-points is importanter

As I said in my edit above. Leaving Bienemy and Leftwich, the OCs of the last 2 SB champs on the table seems like lunacy.

Steve Young was asked on PTI if Tom Brady could ever come back. Without any factual basis he said if Brady ever came back it would be for the 49ers, not far from where he played high school ball. Imagine that.... 🥳
He's not the only one saying that - there's definitely rumours around.

The only thing stopping the 9ers from having 1 SB trophy and another trip in 3 years was the QB. How does the uber competitor leave after posting one of the best statistical seasons for QBs this year? Next you'll tell me he idolised Joe Montana as a child....

Bienemey is a funny case. I suspect being black plays a part but there are a few other things. He doesn't call plays, Reid is clearly the guy running the offence (although that doesn't mean he Bienemey isn't an important part), he has had poor results when in charge of college teams, he has some past history that I don't know the full details of but I think is more towards the inappropriate than the out and out criminal, and he supposedly doesn't come across well in interviews.

Coming across well isn't the be all and end all. Look at all the coaches over the last few years that have been hired, found out as clueless, and fired. Andy Reid speaks highly of him, I wonder how his players feel about him

Well, I'm amped. Taking the afternoon off to visit a mate (native of Cincinnati) to watch and eat Cincinnati chili.
Should be great fun, never even heard of the chili before, but I'll try anything once. Should set me up for Valentines day at home (thanks Omicron).
also, sourdough game is continuing to lift

i fucking hate how every SB we get a "special" Australian coverage
The ESPN "Aussie" guy is an annoying jerk off. I don't want to hear from fucking Neroli Meadows. And you don't need to dumb it down for casuals FFS, i know who Aaron Donald is. I know he's quite good at the footballs.
Seriously just give me the US grown up coverage. This Aussie/NZ ESPN shit is rubbish
