@canes4life Verney came up here for a season (2018?) think he played a handful of game for Hora Hora, was selected in the Northland squad but never pulled on the Cambridge blue strip due to injury.

Zane Kapeli is playing for his old club (Hamilton Marist) this weekend, and based on appearing in a video of the Chiefs gym session, looks to be Cane's replacement. Sullivan, Reihana and Poihipi are also in team lists.
Edit: Roe playing for HOB.

Is number 21 the reserve prop?

The competition starts this week in the Waikato. I'm involved a little bit at my club Te Rapa. We have recovered well since last year with our B team re started, new players joining and former players coming back after a year or more away. Our 60th year this year and we will have shindig on Queens Birthday weekend. I will continue to run around with the Prezzies. One of the guys who restarted the Prezzies is starting for the A's . He is aiming for the century of games. To get a blazer you have to play 100
Counties are on the second round with a break at Easter. Where I grew up, Onewhero , is celebrating their 100th year just before they get to 101 due to Covid doing its thing. They have an Italian coach who was semi-pro and did some learning at the Crusaders.

Why should we just have to worry about Super etc, there a lot of rugby we can get into. -

Have to say it pretty ordinary day here in Hawera today, may have to watch games from inside the clubrooms, it wet and windy with forecast saying it getting worse.
I see NPOB have got Lachlan Boshier starting against us today, so will keep and eye on him.C'mon Southern!
-
@dan54 yeah bit of a shitty day here.
Gonna head along to watch Kamo v Waipu.
My clubs are MId Western and Kamo (former due to playing junior rugby there, latter due to being involved with coaching junior rugby for 8 years and playing a handful of games for them) although I did play 2 seasons for Marist, before they became Old BOys Marist.

Te Rapa is my current club. Onewhero is my home district club. Tairua was my very first club so I keep an eye on their results when they get a team out and also Gisborne HSOB that I spent half a season at.
Te Kohanga a small club in the same region as Onewhero has re started after a 12 year hiatus. Tuakau re started last year as well. With the growth of Pokeno hopefully it continues for that part of Counties Manukau.

@dan54 In all the time I have been in the Waikato, Hautapu is one club I haven't played against or been to their club. My clubs have always been mainly in Division one. Never been to Otorohanga either.
No well I never been in there either mike, never really been in the Waikato during rugby saeson, brother is a keen supporter or has been over the years and sponsor's part of club.

Assume conditions around Northland very similar to what it was like at Kamo, heavy downpours, but raining for full match (although the scoreline at MN v HH would seem to contradict that given that ground is heavy underfoot at the best of times) but mostly grounds these days hold up well
Was a pretty dark and gloomy game in the first quarter, I thought they shoulda played on the top field under the lights, but it did brighten up again.
Given the conditions, thought both teams handled the ball pretty well, but Kamo shaded Waipu across the park to take the game 16-7 (9-0 at HT)
No real standouts for either team, although a few players showed glimpses of class, Waipu Captain Sam McNamara was shown a red card about 10 mins form the end after accidentally taking the man in the air from a restart.
Waipus best was probably McNamara, with a massive workrate, Pisi Leilua, who looks every bit a player who plays NPC, along with a giant prop Waipu have, gets about the park!
For Kamo Mason Hohaia was one of thier best, while thier loosies (no idea of names as they hadnt put up a team sheet prior to game) all put in some work, thier 10 used his boot to direct play very well to make use of the conditions, while Jayden Laupepe looked dangerous on the wing.
Was also a livestream, not great though

Played against them many years ago in grade rugby when I played a season for Naenae. And played against them, with Ken Laban in it in Golden Oldies, I was playing for the original Crusaders rugby team (from Horowhenua)against the Wainui Wags (Wainuomata Alchohol Guzzler Society or some such thing)
