Big mistake putting Ioane at 12 against a crash ball South African side....he should be given the 10 jersey to own for the season

A change of thinking in the midfield to accommodate Ioane and Hunt. Walden was a regular last season.
I don't think there is a change of thinking. It's a change forced by injury.
From the media release:
Unavailable due to injury: Jeff Thwaites (foot), Tevita Nabura (back), Thomas Umaga-Jensen (shoulder), Teihorangi Walden (ribs), Ngane Punivai (knee)

@Stargazer Still got Sio Tomkinson or Scott Gregory who can play 12/13

Depends on if Paul Cully has a good source.
He claims the Highlanders prefer Hunt at 10 and will use Ioane at 12 (or 15) this year

that seems a strange call? you could make a decent argument that Ioane is the 2nd best 10 in the country

@mariner4life Barrett, Mounga, even Hunt.

Mounga is #1
Barrett isn't in the country. and it's questionable

The Highlanders are vowing to play a high-tempo, ball-in-hand style under Brown, much like Japan at the Rugby World Cup, and vice-captain Ash Dixon confirmed Brown's style would ask a lot of the Highlanders' fitness levels. "To play the game he wants to play you've got to be pretty fit," Dixon said. "Obviously we've got the Japanese trainer as well [Highlanders conditioning coach Simon Jones], and the game plan and fitness are pretty aligned, so it's been pretty heavy around preseason." Intriguingly, DIxon also revealed that Brown has returned to Dunedin with even more attacking ideas. "Brownie's always got a lot of new tricks up his sleeve," Dixon said. "It's quite cool, because he always makes you think. "We've got a couple of new things this year we're going to have a crack at, so hopefully we can show that at the weekend."

@DrivingMaul wdym, what’s the size difference between Ioane and Esterheizan ?🤣

It just annoys me that they use hammington than giving fakatava the spot
