Meanwhile the Warriors cough cough are looking good in the rain

Just posted this in the wrong thread....

Well well well, turned the Warriors on with 35 to go, they’re down 16-6 to the best team in the comp....

And for the next 13 minutes I’ve watched them defend wave after wave of attack, and now score a very well put together try to make it 16-12

It’s been an impressive 15 odd minutes...

Not saying they’re gonna win the game, but shit they actually look like they want to be out there playing.

‘Warriors chasing their 3rd straight win in for the first time in more than 2 years.’

    Says it all.

But a big thumbs up to them as it looks like they’re trying to address that underwhelming stat.

Oh wow, that’s an awful call (might be correct in the rule book, but awful none the less?

Does the player in possession not have to look after the ball properly?

@Gunner the worst call of the night was that loose pass from Penrith close to the line that bounced forward, we grubbed kick it out and they ruled the pass was fine. Panthers get ball back.

    @ACT-Crusader yes that was bad.

Haven’t watched much loige this year so don’t have a big sample size, but the captains challenge is an awful concept.

That last one where the Panthers got the call, was technically correct when you slow the frames down as much as they do. But shit, that was a bad bad play by the Panthers, they had no one within cooee, and it’s a 7 tackle 20m restart to the Warriors 99 times out of 100... but for a super slow mo replay.

Hope rugby doesn’t head down the same path.

That was a good effort. I'm pretty proud of what the warriors are putting up every week

If there was that much effort every week, they’d win more games than they lose and they’d pretty quickly have a lot more fans.

I think it's stupid and it rewards teams for guessing correctly with more challenges.

I agree with @mariner4life, I'm proud of the effort they're putting in each week. Good not to be straight up hate watching them by this time of the year.

Any normal year I'd agree with the sentiment, but they've been putting a lot of effort in this year in somewhat trying conditions.

It’s hard to know what we’re being penalised for when the referee doesn’t signal for what the penalty was for and there’s no replay. Every time we looked like we’d gotten some momentum or defused a dicey situation we were pinged.

Otherwise that was an effort to be proud of and it’s not the first time this season ive felt that way. I don’t care if we lose when we play like that.

Pops got to go though. I gave him some love early in the season hoping he’d offer something when he came back into the team. Hasn’t offered shit.

Jazz has to sort out that loose carry. He’s a great player but he loses the ball at crucial stages too often.

Hard to say if it’s technique or just bad luck. I remember quite a few years ago Sione Lauaki had a problem losing the ball when he hit the ground after a tackle. He made a few adjustment to the way he held the ball and it made a big difference. Nonu was in the same boat too.

In league the ‘dark arts’ as a defender is getting arms and legs tangled up with ball carrier and with a bit of luck the ball carrier is “careless”

@ACT-Crusader Im going with technique. Happens too often to the same player. It’s almost always at a stage where the game is on the line. He goes into the tackle aggressively and I live that. But his carry is one armed and he doesn’t hold it close to his body. The defenders are attacking the ball as much as trying to complete the tackle (because of the situation, they need a turn over)and he drops it.

Yeah i think a lot of the modern players carry the ball with poor technique when going into contact ,which is a side effect of the strip rule ,

Back in the day , it could legally be stripped off you, and you held the ball like your life depended on it .

Bunnies v Cowboys was a cracker, won with a last gasp field goal.

The Cowboys will not enjoy the review of their last 3 minutes

@mariner4life For a pack full of rep players, the Cowboys are a bit soft in that area. The Bunnies were terrible but almost every time they got in the Cows half they scored. The Bunnies backs Mitchell, Johnston, Graham and Walker were very poor I thought.
