If we were a basketball team we’d be the Knicks
The really cynical part of me says, if Todd really wanted the job, the other stuff would have been worked around.
This same cynical part says Todd has been inside the club, knows the atmosphere, knows how the owners and management works, knows the roster, and has said "yeah nah, fuck that"
-
reports Blake Green to the Knights effective immediately.
bye Blake.
-
@mariner4life Wow.....I thought he (along with RTS) has been the Warriors most consistent performer during his time at the club.

Huh? He's been a mixture of actively shit (pretty much all of last year) and occasionally really good (the match where after the boss told him he was out). I thought we needed a player like him when he was signed but he was past his best.

The Warriors have always struggled to recruit at the top end of players and coaches for obvious reasons. Throw COVID in the mix and Payten saying his wife's dad is going through chemo then signing a three year pact with an overseas team is not very attractive (if you have other options)

absolutely the rational and realistic explanation
i did say the cynical side...

@Nogusta if you mean consistently inconsistent then yes he's one of our most consistent.
Frankly Green's kicking game was mostly very average. His running game was ineffective and his playmaking was level: journeyman.
Good guy but not going to miss his horrible fifth tackle options or following a good game with 3 bad ones.

As others have mentioned Green has been mainly poor with some okay to good moments.
I hate when we go to him on the last. His short and (not so) long kicking game is very bad.
Also on RTS, he’s had an up and down year by his standards. Quite a few errors this season.
From my armchair I reckon Harris and Maumalo have been our best
-
Sheesh, the Warriors are going to get hammered this weekend. Player leaving midweek, coach tells them he'd rather coach another poor team.
Well, I don't really want to break my annual watch the Warriors lose live in Sydney so it's not too much of an issue. Also, finally after 5 years here Manly haven't taken the game on the road so I get to go to Brookvale (luckily my mate is a Manly member).

i read an interesting article about RTS and Tedesco, and how Tedesco has pulled ahead because he has developed his game. Tedesco has added a passing element to his attack, and it's freeing up the Roosters. The criticism of RTS was he isn't a different, or more rounded player to what he was two years ago.
Brilliant running fullback? yes. More rounded player? No.
Thought it was a pretty valid take to be honest

Was it last year that the Warriors were not totally crap? RTS was coming into the line and passing - almost playing a fullback/six role. But that has disappeared as the Warriors have turned to total shit and now he's started making idiotic mistakes usually made by his teammates.
TBH, I think Tedesco or Tommy Turbo or any decent fullback would likely be regressing if in this current Warriors side.
-
@mariner4life it's absolutely valid. But then no one in the history of rugby league went to the Warriors to become more well rounded?
-
Sounds like Payten had at one point made a considered decision to stay. Then...
-
I can't quite believe Payton was the best of those choices but it kinda sums up the Warriors attitude of not changing anything thats broke.
I'd like to see them take a chance on those two brothers for a couple of years. They sound forward thinking and driven. Whats the worst that can happen? Another disappointing season?

Agreed. We'll probably end up with some washed up bigger name who will fail just like the rest

some conjecture part of the problem was they only wanted to give Todd a year, then get their real first choice in
That would be astoundingly bad management. So, exactly what we expect

Just like signing dead duck Kearney to a multi year extension then firing him less than a year in

And who is that?
Green and Griffin seem to be the favourites now. Will George and Robinson swallow their pride and re-consider the Walker bros?
