I think you do want a spinner in Australia though.
What about at Lords in the final of the World Test Championship?
If we can win this test, we're in the hunt.
Our remaining series are Windies and Pakistan in NZ and Bangladesh away.
Optimistically, we could end up with 4 series wins a draw and a loss, which would quite likely be good enough.

Jamieson moves it enough.
You only need to move it a little bit, with accuracy to be successful.
He's also quick enough as the bounce he gets make up for the lack of raw pace.
Now if he can be durable as well, we have a guy who can be a vital part of the bowling attack for the next 6 or 7 years

I nip out to do some shopping and wtf happened. KJ got 5 wickets??
Similar (but diving lesson for Ms boo jr).

I'm not sure Jamieson is so slow - he hits mid 130s which is respectable. Certainly quicker than Southee. His main asset ( other than his height) is that he seems to control his length well. If he could become a good enough bat to be number 7 then he could play in a 4 man pave attack with a spinner.

Great to see Jamieson continuing to take wickets, he's such an exciting prospect.
We still have a LOT of work to do to take ascendancy in this one. India won't be completely disappointed with 242 - Kohli said after the first match that if they'd managed to get through to 230 things would have been different, and I agree with him.
We are going to want a lead of at least 100, meaning we still need to score another 300 odd.

Kane gone and I have India just head of the game now.

@nzzp You have clearly blocked out the tour of Australia.
What tour of Australia?

A lot of their batsmen haven't shown the necessary application on this tour. They are dangerous and can score big at any time. I think if we should be able to bowl them out for under 300 again in the second innings though.

If he could bat 7 while bowling at mid-130s and taking wickets at his current rate ,we'd be talking Hadlee-level.

I'm not so sure. India have only the 3 fast bowlers and Jadeja. I reckon things will get easier for us when the bowlers tire. We also bat fairly deep.
