Cricket: NZ vs Aus

Some interesting stats here, e.g. Taylor's average is better against Aussie.
-
How much is that due to his 290 from his last game in Perth though?

If you remove any players best performances their averages suddenly look a bit... average. Unless they're just killing it every time they play (I.E Bradman) . That was some innings, he deserves to get a boost from it. If he can play even half as well this time we'll be right in the game.

By the same token, does he get to remove his worst performance? (Although I think that would not have that great an effect ... )

@Duluth well duh
-
This is eeirly starting to feel like the 2004 England Tour... so much hype and a few narrow injury misses.
-
Is there an update on injuries for Trent and CDG?

That's been in the back of my mind as the injury list grew. Too scarred from the 90s/early 00s, plus it's the Canary Yellows in their own backyard... and yet the sense of it being 85/86 all over again also sits there optimistically 😊

Interesting build up in Oz for this series.
Two big spreads in the Sunday Tele and multimedia is pumping out the message to the public they don’t realise how good this Kiwi team is unless you start crunching numbers.
Usually not many Aussies care about how the Black Caps are performing unless they play Australia so they are oblivious of some of the marvellous wins we have conjured up in the last three years and their circumstances.
It’s a very tough ask playing pink ball at Perth’s new stadium as the surface will be a bit of an unknown beast and especially with Oz having played their last test under lights and no warm up game for the Good Guys.
Not too concerned with injuries as they’ll only play Trent if they reckon he’s got enough overs in him and why not debut your most exciting new young bowler to Test Cricket in Perth in a very new stadium! Rossco and CdG will fine!!
Not making any predictions until after the first session once I’ve seen the pitch and got the vibe.
This is the big one guys beating Oz in Oz and we have a squad with genuine depth and three (3) tests to do it in.
And the betting odds are so much better than the AB’s 🤓 -
Latest is the Lockie starts and Boult is out all tom
-
I'm a nervous wreck.
Filled with hope and expectation, only to have the ghosts of past oz campaign's stampede my new found admiration. No Boult is a blow. Hope big house is good
-
I see Nigel fuckin' Llong is one of the umpires.

-
They'll win this test for sure.
Then it's us trying to get a result on a Melbourne pitch that could be anything, given they are on a last warning for being too boring. Or Sydney without a decent spinner
What's worse is fucking David Warner will probably top score this series.
-
Despite my pessimism, I'm still excited to play them over there. Particularly the MCG. It's like coming to play the ABs here - a true test of ability, and a massive challenge

Replying to myself, but that streak from teh Windies in 93/94 to SA in 08/09 is ridiculous. Ridiculous.

That upvote for you could have come from anywhere

Aust won the toss and are batting. There's a surprise!
Ferguson is playing.
-
Flinging down 140kmh rocks in 38°C - fuck that
Some good shape from Southee
-
The numbers on the backs of shirts look shit.

They're black. Surely that counts for something?
-
Wagner v Warner at some stage this series will be well worth watching
-
less than 130km an hour isn't going to cut it in Aus
-
Not looking remotely ominous from Warner.
CdG might need a golden arm afternoon.
-
We should have requested this series to be played in England.. and with Stuart Broad on our side..
-
Not even an hour in and Oz at $1.20 to win. Us at $7.40 - with a draw also at $7.40.
That's saying the Oz quicks will be effective where our boys won't be - plus Lyons will get to bowl on the final day pitch if required.
That draw money might be worth a sniff with the heat likely to take its toll on the bowlers.
-
CdG and Wagner look a lot bette rthan Ferguson and Southee. FML.
-
Colin!! What a legend that man is
-
Golden arm
-
don't ever underestimate park cricketers!!!!
-
That's plumb baby. Great work
-
It’s not all about speed. Tight cricket, build pressure. Vary the options.
