The commentators actually haven't annoyed me too much given that we are getting done over.
Kerry O'Keeffe seems quite knowledgeable but is irritating because he thinks he's funny and laughs at his own jokes.
Is A Goer (I might have spelled that wrong) is pretty good, but most women with a name like that I would probably like.
Kerry O'Keefe is hilarious!
Well he thinks so.
-
fucking Wags. He's got a heart the size of ayers rock
-
Southee!

Hard not to like the guy ay. He's rapidly becoming my favourite cricketer ever.
That was also out every day of the week. Reviews are for "howlers" and that was one. Comms trying to defend Erasmus, but it really did look out.

Kerry is good value because he doesn’t take himself so seriously and yet knows the game.
Warne still grates but it’s hard to argue with his more analytical comments given his record and the way he attacked in test cricket.
-
No luck from Erasmus
-
@Snowy I find O'Keefe the most annoying, because he's the most Aussie flag-waving - closest to a throw-back to the old Channel 9. I guess he played with Chappelli so a bit of the arse gene was bound to rub off.
What the Aussies have done well is get Michael Vaughan and Isa into the team - which along with having Smithy there, makes things a lot less abrasive. Also Gilchrist seems very even handed, so even though we're getting our arses handed to us we're not getting 6 hours of relentless criticism and jingoism.
-
@Chris-B Isa is a gem, and i am happy for her to do as many test series as there are.
The only really annoying one is Mike Hussey. He's sort of the new Slats, with his boundless cricket-nerd enthusiasm. But for all he loves the game, he doesn't have a heap of insight. And his "lab" thing is fucking stupid for the vast majority of the time.
Also Mark Waugh is just a relentlessly negative asshole who can basically go fuck himself.
-
Wagner gets Head at the MCG...
-
Erasmus does us over again. Getting an LB in Aus for a Kiwi is about as likely as me finding Painite in my back yard, which is appropriate given the Aussie captain and the name of the discoverer.
I had to go out but they were talking earlier about trying to get a ball tracker on the Morrison to McDermott LBW. Did that happen? Didn't actually think it was possible but would love to see it.
As for Kerry, just don't laugh at your own jokes, as I said, or sound like you are amusing yourself so much. It's a bit weird.
-
Southee with a couple of junk time wickets to disguise his hundred coming up.
-
Little bit of a mini collapse for the Aussies now, unfortunately 150 runs too late.
-
@mariner4life Hussey doesn't really annoy me too much - but, I'm usually making coffee or getting a beer from the fridge when we cross to the cricket lab.
Agree on Mark Waugh - according to his brother, when Mark was walking off after scoring a century in his his first test he looked up at the players enclosure and said to Border - "I told you so - you should have picked me earlier", so I'm not really expecting him to take many prisoners.
Cleaning up the tail, but too little to late.
-
well, we took 10 wickets, that's something right?
-
@mariner4life wasn't looking likely an hour ago
-
@mariner4life Last five wickets for 33!!! Pretty good even though they started slogging.
Lets hope we're not going to come out and find how much difference the extra speed of Starc and Cummins makes on this pitch. I.e. that we're jumping about and end the day at 40/5 or something equally awful.
I want to see our supposedly good players like Latham, Nicholls and Watling really stand up in support of Kane and Rossco.
-
Unfortunately when we are talking about the commentators we probably aren't doing well on the field.

Yeah. Innings all over but we have to do something really special now.
We pretty much have to bat for over 2 days and only bat once. Then hope that the pitch falls apart.
If it does, it will be deemed dangerous and will be called off.If a miracle happens and we get a win it will be too smokey in SYD to play the decider.
Supporting the Craps over the years versing Aus has made me a little negative.
-
@Chris-B i have a very real feeling we will be 3 down at the close of play.
-
pffft hahaha the first ball is 148!!!

Just gently rolling the arm over at the moment
-
Good work Blundell - he's out-batted Burns already!
Take these little wins where you can get them!
-
Aussies appealing like they're India in that over.
-
Full delivery bounces over the keepers head.
That said, the keeper is standing too close.
-
Starc trying to keep it full and do Blundell for pace like he's a tail ender. That tactic certainly worked against Jeet, Blundell looks like he can at least handle the full quick delivery a lot better.
-
Despite the belief that NZ batsman can't handle 150kph, we do actually have fast bowlers in NZ who can bowl that, so NZ batsmen have had some practice.

I agree that we have those bowlers, but not a lot of experience facing that sort of pace on these sorts of wickets.

Can’t stand Hussey. To me he’s playing the Slater cheer leader role.
-
Good thing here is that it's certainly not hooping around and there's not really been steepling bounce - maybe apart from that one NQ noted.
-
Blundell went too hard at that one.
Showed some nice signs though.
-
Probably not the shot for the occasion, Tom.
Still - we're going to get past 26 and I'm inclined to think he's done better than I would have expected from Jeet.
-
With 15 runs he’s probably solidified his spot in the tests side for the next two years at least....
-
People criticising O'Keefe obviously never listened to him on the ABC. Laughing at his jokes is his schtick. There is absolutely nothing arrogant about it though. Heaps of his humour is self-depreciating. He will talk about how he is the least penetrative bowler in test history (has the highest ratio of wickets as catches).

I don't think Raval would have got those runs.
-
Our batsmen might look a bit better facing 20 km/h less...
-
Cummins is like McGrath but 5 - 10km faster. Very classy operator.

That pace difference is a huge difference - but, these guys won't sustain express pace into their later spells.
It's vital that Kane and Latham stick it out here - take the shine off the ball and the sustain this initial burst, and we can settle in.

From both ends

The forecast tomorrow is to be even hotter again so if we can get through to stumps with these two still here we should be in a good position to bat.
