Cricket: NZ vs Aus

well i have boxing day tickets (so it will probably rain)..
if it doesn't rain, then I look forward to attending a once in a 30 year outing...just need to decide on clothing and choice of sandpaper

We’re caught in a trap!!!
From my understanding not one of the NZ team contesting this series has played at any of the three grounds!
Oz coming off a Pink ball test into one!
No warm up match?
Feels like Wales taking on The ABs.
Good luck with that.......
However we have the best team we have ever put out against Oz barring one opener who looks like a BC of days of yore!
Should we throw him or someone else to the wolves?
He’s already lacking any sense of confidence so why not chuck someone in who is not totally failing in their role? -

@booboo
Do not start on the Oz in Oz decisions
The Sneddon catch?I'm still spitting about 'it could ahve come from anywhere'. FFS, thankfully modern DRS is much better than that - I think that was early doors. Still, cost us a very very rare chance of a win
That one was the absolute worst. Just reading that phrase makes me angry.

@voodoo
This is the first time in 25 years (please correct me if wrong stats dudes) that the New Zealand Cricket Team have been given the big three venues!
The Oz public are pretty ambivilous cause its just The Kiwis and Wagner (who they’ve never heard of) is ranked 3rd in the world and just taken 2 Michelle’s?
Our best batsmen are both coming off undefeated centuries?
What’s not to be excited about 🤓 -
@booboo another doozy was an ODI in Aus. Stephen Fleming batting. For 3 balls the Aussies had one too many in the outfield for that particular phase of the match.
Fleming, correctly, pointed this out to the umpire. The field was corrected, ( not the no balls of course), and Flem got fined 1500 bucks for bringing the game into disrepute!
Challenging an umpire !😂Edit: got a few details wrong but the jist remains https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/23180784/fleming-incurs-fine-following-dissent-charge

That was that WACA. There's a new stadium in Perth now.

Looking forward to this series, but keeping a lid on expectations.
I’m probably scared from a lifetime of seeing the BCs be beaten up over there.
I'm rather optimistic about this series. We don't get thumped any more. Our batting backbone has never been so solid.
We may not win the series but I bet we don't capitulate and get rolled easily.
I'm predicting a series win to the black caps. There! I've said it.
-
If the tour does go sideways I suspect it will be more due to us chasing leather than major batting collapses.
I see how we can get enough runs to win, but I'm not sure where the 20 wickets are coming from without a session of madness from Australia.

I think if we have Boult back and start Lockie in Perth with Wagner getting rid of the tail, I can imagine us getting 20 wickets. I am being optimistic though, I do understand that

Don't leave Santner out of the equation. Steve Smith's average halves against left arm orthodox and movement away from the bat is his area of 'weakness'.
You would never bowl a turning off spinner against Smith, he'll just pick you off the legs all day long. A leftie (in form) could be a good option though, especially if they have a top spinner to get some extra bounce. -
The rabble that was Oz without Smith would have been a relatively easy contest.
With him back. It's not just his own brilliance its the balance he brings to the side and the rise in confidence he gives them.
I would love to beat those bastards. Too many decades of patronising and cheating but I think it's big ask.
Here's hoping. Bring It On.

A consolation would be a series loss but getting Davey Dumb Dumb out cheaply every innings.
