pretty interesting weekend
Lions stroll back in to the 4 after another training run. I like the Suns, and want them to be good, but that was very ordinary
Dusty gets Richmond home by himself, what an absolute champion
The Saints kick their way to a loss over the Cats. That is a lot of behinds.
Demons continue on their merry way
Dogs back in the winners circle.
North get a win, and suddenly are not the Club in the worst position going forward
Whole season is so open.
dont forget the swannies joining the Collingwood pile on

early doors it looked like Sydney were going to do their standard capitulation to Collingwood, but they got the job done
-
@mariner4life yeah, was another promising sign, our early win this season were all out in front, good to see that can shake off a bad start
-
So Richmond are getting more cynical and filthy all the time aren't they?
Still right now making us look like the absolute pretenders we are
But Hardwick can fuck entirely up
-
@mariner4life great 2nd half from the Lions. Joe Daniher has a major flaw in his set goal kicking technique. He shifts the direction of the ball rather than letting drop straight on to the boot.
Richmond could be out of the top 8 at the end of the round.
-
@act-crusader best thing Daniher has done is free up Hipwood, whi is in career best touch
Lions did well to turn that around.

With a little help from the refs doing a Nic Berry impersonation.

Lucky my other red white and black side is playing on the rugby channel because this one is getting an absolute towelling.

You right there Damien?

Demons losing was a shock, but I'm sort of with Shark, that's a good way to refocus a group ahead of a very big game. Those two midfields going at each other should be enormous fun.
Richmond out of the 8 is strange, but I'm still backing them in once the troops come back.
GWS aren't dead yet, arguably showing more fight now than when they had better players.
St Kilda are a worry. They are nowhere, not getting better, and have some very bad contracts on the books.
-
GWS form has been really impressive. After the first few rounds I thought Leon Cameron was in real trouble, but at the moment you'd have him in the top echelon given the injury toll they have suffered.
St Kilda should feel the heat, they have been horrible. Carlton haven't been great either but at least they have never been blown out by a big margin, which has happened to the Saints on multiple occasions this year.

i was with you on that, but seems he's doing an okay job.
I may be coming around to your call on Dew as well.
-
@mariner4life I think Dew will see out the season, but their performance in the Q-clash will sting for a long time. Who are the Suns? What is their purpose? They have some good young players but it must hurt to see May at the Demons, Lynch at the Tigers, etc etc.
They seemed to be better against the Cats but they need to take a few scalps in the back half of the season to show that they are moving in the right direction. If they don't then I reckon they move on from big Stu and try and get a more seasoned campaigner in there.

i think they've got the Hawks, then the bye, and then Rowell back. They absolutely have to win this week or the pressure will be hot.
The Suns are there to grow the game in Qld. They are the ones doing the heavy lifting in regional Qld in terms of academy and development. But the senior team needs to move forward. They have the talent now, they just cannot stall their development.
If they improve, then this list of quality players will stay put, rather than fucking off back to Melbourne.
The "established coach" thing is a dangerous move. Eade set the place back. Clarkson would be alright.
-
@mariner4life True. The bias towards the big Melbourne clubs in the media probably saves Dew a bit. It's bizarre Buckley is on the hot seat given the Pies have been pretty bloody good the last 4-5 years. And the discussion about Carlton get me too - they are fine, will finish about 10th but you'd think they were wooden spooners.
The Melbourne bias gives and it takes away, because a team like Brisbane should be getting more attention than it does. Are they the Premiership favourite at the moment? Probably a notch behind the Bulldogs but they've got a real 'this is our year' vibe building.
-
@barbarian I'm not sold on us yet, but we are going better then the first couple of weeks.
Carlton and Collingwood are always in the news because they have big followers, so chat about them generates clicks. It works for them though, because somehow Carlton are a trade destination despite being all colours of ordinary for as long as i have followed the sport.
-
@mariner4life I've been following AFL since 2001 and I think Carlton have been shit to middling all that time. I can barely name any big stars to have played for them in that time. Koutafides and Fevola. That'd be it.
