The new rules allow teams to pile on more points when they get that run of momentum
The defending team appears to be more power less to now to Halt that run of momentum,
So while overall it’s been great to have more open footy , I think the amount of one sided blow outs might be a concern if competitive football is also a priority

I don’t know about that because you still have to get centre clearances and generally get more inside 50s than your opposition.
I agree that in play and the pace of the game means there will be should be more scoring opportunities, and if you have quicker on ballers it will definitely help. But get those first two things right (centre clearance and inside 50s) you will win footy games.

I think centre clearances have become more important now , first use of the ball
Richmond as an example are a team that didn’t put a lot of emphasis on that ( I think they were bottom 4 statistically) they relied on turnover ball and would hurt you going the other way , I guess it’s still early days but that might be harder to do now .

how good are the Dees going?
7-0 and clear top of the ladder.
And now they sign Petracca for 7 years (8 really because he still has a year left on his current deal) and for what many consider unders. Seems like a win-win type deal actually, good move by both parties.

Ouch Richmond. Ouch.
Yeah the Cats big forwards were pretty unstoppable. 15 goals between 3 players has been pretty rare in recent years.
Saints came to play in the final quarter to take out the win against the Suns.
Suns are a hard scrappy side and not easy to get run against.

It's been a few weeks now since MFC have featured on Sky which is annoying given how well we're going and how great they are to watch. Last game was the Richmond clash on ANZAC weekend. So two rounds since then, which doesn't seem that bad and I can forgive not showing a game against the worst side at an inspiring venue last week but when you consider Sky are showing 5 games this weekend you'd think Melbourne vs Sydney would feature among those. If it wasn't the game of the round it was at very least the biggest clash on a Saturday on which Sky broadcast three AFL games.
But I wonder if the games SKY shows has something to do with which broadcaster in Australia has the rights? I'm sure someone can tell me that.
Hopefully we're back on the box next week.

Brisbane take care of Freo in a very casual fashion
Lol at Carlton
I did not see Geelong suddenly being really good.

Richmond are going through a difficult phase that alot of people probably arent quite aware of ,
their depth has taken a big hit ,
lost good players who werent quite getting regular games , like Conca , Butler , higgins , markov , townsend , lloyd etc through salary cap and them getting better offers elsewhere and wanting to play at the higher level,
A couple of years ago their firsts and seconds were both winning flags , atm their seconds are struggling ,
when they have been hit by injuries previously those guys mentioned wouldve been playing , now they have had to go to kids who are a bit overawed and its brought them back to the pack , all of a sudden their depth isnt where it was ,
Salary cap at work evening things out

Bad news for Richmond
Shai Bolton fractured his wrist in a pub fight. Dan Rioli with stitches in his head.

Ok Melbourne aren't back on Sky until Friday the 28th vs the Dogs. That's fucked. Absolutely fucked
