could be a good boost, take a little bit of pressure of the young guns to hit the same heights two weeks in a row
our potential forward line looks good
-
imagine if we'd secured Daniher...i might have even started to get excited
-
@kiwiwomble I reckon you might be better without him
-
@barbarian maybe, trying not to get excited as buddy could break again real easy and these young guns...are young. The more options the better

Maybe, but adding in a highly paid (arguably overrated) key forward could upset what appears to be a really happy squad. Will be interesting to watch how he goes at the Lions.

I've got question marks over Essendon, Hawthorn and GWS. I'm not sure how the game between the former two will look in the context of the season, what I saw didn't impress me that much.
And GWS should have put St Kilda away yesterday, but they just lack the edge they once had in those tight contests. The Saints were impressive but the Giants let them in. Himmelberg misses a kickable set shot which would have put them up 16 with 10 to play, and from there they were on the back foot.
Hey hey hey, letโs not play down that fantastic win in tough conditions, down in the final quarter, away from home...
Itโs our year and itโs not 1966.

Dangerfield gets his 3 weeks. Good job.

god the TV demands on the schedule suck. It's how you end up with Carlton v Collingwood as the Thursday game.
should be a good weekend. Geelong v Brisbane will see an early season favourite go 0-2. One of Sydney and the Crows will be 2-0. Saints v Melbourne will tell a bit. Bulldogs v West Coast in a battle of a couple of contenders.
But we start with Carlton and Collingwood...
-
swans v crows one of the games of the round and not on free to air

A good example why the "live posts" potential rule has legs. About 4 minutes held up with a video review to see if the ball shaved the post. AFL VAR decisions are basically 2 dimensional minutae seeking to see a flick of a finger or a shave of a post - basically like those dubious " did it carry" slip catches in cricket.
Having live posts doesn't waste 4 minutes, reduces the need for VAR ( surely a good thing), is not open to an umpires interpretation, removes any doubt, provides a visual and visceral verdict for fans and gives a heartstopping gulp moment for fans as they process the ricochet, ( especially when the ball bounces back infield)
No negatives except for breaking tradition as far as I can see.

Great game last night, but pretty gutting for Carlton. Another case of so close but so far, they loomed up a few times but just couldn't get it done. Patrick Cripps went MIA, and the other on-ballers were below their best.
They aren't a bad side, but I think their hopes of making the eight are fading even at this early stage. Those are the sort of games that good teams need to step up and win. Collingwood are still a good team.

I'm wondering of the new rules, and the subsequent decrease in stoppages, is having an effect on the contested ball beasts? Lachie Neale did fuck all last week. Cripps hasn't done much to start. Perhaps this slight tweak to game style has left these boys with a bit of work to do than just smashing in to stoppages and getting the ball out?

Maybe. Probably too early to tell. But Cripps isn't even winning much ball. He dropped a sitter of a chest mark in front of goal. He slipped over with the ball a bunch of times. Chalk it up to a bad night at the office, but in a contract year he needs to show more if he wants to command the type of salary commensurate with other Brownlow contenders.
