AFL 2021

Good win to the Dees yesterday over Freo. Could have been a wider margin had they been more accurate in front of goal, but also credit to Freo for hanging in there and staging a couple of decent fight backs. Was an entertaining game.
And all the more reason to support New Zealand's team, Melbourne, with those two 'Kiwis' in their side, especially big Maxy Gawn. I'll have to look them up on Wiki. Dustin Martin's parentage is well known due to his Kiwi Dad having been deported but I suspect the other guys are similar ie Australian born and a Kiwi parent involved.
-
Ok big Max has two Kiwi parents, was born in Australia when they migrated but did return to Greymouth as a baby before moving back. So to be fair, it's a reasonable link. I'm sure he considers himself to be an Aussie but the parentage is unquestionable and I'd wager there is a pic around somewhere of Max as a giant child wearing an All Blacks or possibly Crusaders jersey.

wait I've just paid attention to that graphic. Max Gawn and Dustin Martin are kiwis? Get the fuck out. That's cringey as fuck.
Possibly not as cringey as the NBA game where Adams was marking Baynes and the comms referenced how rare it would be to see two New Zealanders playing each other in the NBA. Baynes was born in Gisborne but plays for the Boomers FFS.

Baynes is from up here
Also fucking Lions. Sydney? Really?
And I thought Geelong was the team everyone would be laughing at today

I can’t remember the last time we scored over 100 and three different guys with three goal so not relying on Papley to have a blinder , I enjoyed that

Are you adding or correcting? From Wiki:
Baynes was born in Gisborne, New Zealand to two Kiwi parents in 1986. His family moved to the relatively small Australian town of Mareeba, Queensland when he was three years of age

Really entertaining round. Seems like North will be the only easybeat team this year, with the other 17 teams all with a shot of winning on any given Sunday.
The Swans was the most surprising for me, when it all clicked they blew the Lions off the park. Away from home too. I expect them to be hot and cold given how many young blokes they are fielding, but still they will be a really tough assignment.
Also impressed by the Suns, even though they lost. I think the competition for the 7th and 8th will be pretty intense.

exactly this, ive had a look around the boards and there is a lot of excitement but also the reality we had three on debut and its one thing to fire when winning but how they handle being under the pump against someone like richmond or geelong is yet to be seen
booting your first AFL goal on the run from 50 is a bloody good start though

as usual, the Swans drafted well, and their kids are jets right off the bat. But yes, expect inconsistency all year
I'm still pissed by the Lions though, that was shithouse. Daniher better not be one of those guys who comes in as a name, plays pretty well, but somehow fucks the team up. I'm looking at you Fev.
Some really good games. I thought the Suns, for a young side, did well to get themselves in to the game after giving up 3 goals in a minute and a half away to a team that is on a premiership hunt, having not even touched the ball.
