Richmond are in such a good spot for a really good run at this thing now.
They have players to come back in who are proven performers, but those guys are no guarantee to just waltz in, because their replacements are performing.
Their game plan can be beaten, but it takes an enormous amount of energy to do it. Combine that with a defense that doesn't concede a lot, and shorter games, and they are never out of the game. And then they finish strongly, so they know they are a chance to win.
They also have a lot of talent. Talent wins finals.

Potentially yes , I think the shorter quarters doesnt quite suit them as much , it was more evident they tended to break teams down in a war of attrition in the longer version , and i think a lot of that was mental where they felt their was no relief and they eventually cracked
I think their next game against Geelong is as big as any final to their destiny , it cements a spot in the 4 if they win , lose they will probably miss the 4 and it gets a whole lot tougher from there , think West Coast last year ,
Long way to go ,still wide open for mine , different but interesting season -
It appears no one wants to come 8th

If nobody else wants to we'll volunteer.
How many points do we need?
Wanna lend us some?

AFL investigating Tiger pair arrested after fight outside Gold Coast strip club
Yep Sydney Stack and Coleman Jones ,
Coleman jones is a talented young ruckman that hasnt had many opportunities in the top side , he has come across as a nice kid previously, and I think most would be surprised its him, but that might be all deceiving.
Stack has a troubled past, talented young aboriginal kid that everyone decided to bypass in the 2018 draft because of that reputation . Richmond monitored his progress last year , and threw him a lifeline ,he lived at the coaches house , he played really well, and it was all a media feel good story , missed the finals through injury . This year he hasnt been great , rumors were going around about him coming back to training well over weight etc etc , and dimma being very unhappy with him . Now this.
I reckon they will be sent home , and not on the list next year .

i just have to say i very much enjoyed the game yesterday, had to keep working but had foxtel on one screen, work on the other and a beer, perfect

Been quite impressed with Collingwood's (that team all racists hate) effort in the last month. They're really putting in but probably lack the pedigree to make points. We need all the guns playing to even contend but the way the squad has played without them has been characterised by guts and never giving up. Today also was all guts ( 2nd half) but poor execution.
Meanwhile Brisbane have all the speed and vigour and must be under pressure to make an appearance at their big do in October.
Given how hot they are at the moment, it would be the funniest thing in the history of mankind if they didn't make it.
No pressure but

fucking windy in Cairns today so set your expectations even lower than they already were for Dees v Freo tonight
-
Geelong look the class team at the moment, though that mantle has been held by West Coast, Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Richmond at various points over the last month.
You'd be surprised to see the winner come from outside that group though. I'd back in a Geelong/Richmond final but wouldn't shock me to see West Coast or Brisbane there.

given West Coast look destined for 5th, and will be stuck in Qld where they appear to stink, i think i would be shocked.
Richmond v Geelong looking very likely. Don't they play each other this weekend?

@mariner4life West Coast may well struggle in the hub, but their best footy is arguable better than any other team in the competition. That game against Collingwood was scary.
I can see them scrapping their way into a Prelim final, and then all it takes is one good day and they are in the GF. Not sure if they can produce that, but if they do then they are very hard to beat.
-
@barbarian it's a good point, they do have the best potential. I'm just concerned by their level at the moment.
If they get everyone fit and healthy they will be a handful

West coast look impressive , have a lot of great players ,
if there is an issue , their game plan relys on perfect execution , chip mark, chip mark , long kick mark , they like to keep the ball off the ground and take a lot of uncontested marks , looks beautiful when its coming off ,
Sometimes under the heat of a high pressure game such as finals, that becomes the most difficult type of gameplan to perfectly execute , and if they do have a weakness its the ball hitting the deck ,
i probably rate geelong ahead of them right now but both are right in it
