@antipodean said in RWC Final: England v Springboks:

why not say the eventual winners were the reason we didn't make the final?

As mentioned above - I would prefer to say that we beat the winners.

Which would mean we lost to the losers. 😉

I like Eddie. This English team is really fucking good. England are, right now, playing the better brand of rugby. If England win we are still the only nation with 3 cups

    So England.

If it's a choice between the coaches I'll take Rassie over Eddie. Rassie was one of my favourite Boks when he played, and part of me wants to see that smirk wiped off Jones' face.

My South African ancestry is more recent than my English ancestry too. 🤣

@Toddy said in RWC Final: England v Springboks:

This will be my first time backing the Poms. Would be a bit sh.t that a team that couldn't win all their pool games went on to win the whole thing. England are playing the more enjoyable rugby too imo

I'm on that bandwagon too. They beat us, it was a good performance, why not say the eventual winners were the reason we didn't make the final?

Because it means the Wallabies are in the same bucket, but therefore take a higher moral ground based on score ratio of 40:16 being better than 19:7 - suck on that! 😉

I'm going Boks. At least they will take the victory with a modicum of humility as well as pride. They're also TRC champs which counts for a bit from my pov.

Poms haven't won the 6N for 2 years, largely down to their inability to beat Scotland. They're playing well now, but a lot of the criticism here about RWC is nations aligning their performances to it. So I expect everyone to tow the line.

Plus Maro Itoje - who may be a nice young man for all I know but carries on like a plonker on the paddock - as a World Champion? Give me strength...

EDIT: and Owen Feral as @photo-fox says below.

There are some decent blokes in that Pommy team I've no doubt, but just consider how many knighthoods might get awarded if they get up, to guys who were out on their arse at pool stage in 2015.

I'm not going to support a team that includes Owen Farrell. No real reason, I've just always disliked him.

    So... Boks.

In the semi England played like the All Blacks and the All Blacks played like England...if the Boks play like the Boks and England play like they normally do the Boks will win the 2019 RWC.

You only get to have an opinion if you make it to the semi-final stage.

That being the case, I'm glad you and @jegga agree that the Wallabies and All Blacks were equally shit in 2007.

    Nice try .

Locking up opinions at the semis locks out the Irish too so I completely support this .

Ireland didn't even make the quarters in 2007, so play on

I'm half English, lived in the UK for a fair time, and I want us to be the only team that has won 3 times - England please! And they play a bit more interesting rugby
