Didn't I hear during the broadcast BOK did ask the TMO who said it was ok? Bit hard for him to take the full blame as it was hot on attack and not sure how close he was. Really should be pointing the finger at the TMO and AR IMO.
BOK owns the decisions, TMO is there for advice. Yes, the TMO put him wrong after he asked but he also was aware that the player went off for a HIA so should have double checked IMO.

Hodge may yet get a post game card.
He bloody should based on that footage.
Four games in, and three have had refereeing whistle swallowing. I'm going to post on teh Arg thread soon, but by god the ref had an effect on the winner of that game. Very frustrating.
I usually like Gardner but Argentina were robbed. Picamoles was clearly offside at least twice in kickable positions towards the end.
I have no idea how the SA winger didn’t get a YC. High tackle plus prevents quick ball with NZ almost certain to score. We benefitted from a couple of lucky calls too.
I was happy with our discipline yesterday. The easiest way to avoid the TMO lottery is no high tackles in the first place.

I think hodge is fine. Would not like to see that red carded. He clearly tries to wrap left arm and he didn’t deliberately lead with shoulder. Just bad luck. And those whining...would you be happy to lose an AB for that?

The issue is the bloody (apparnetly) inflexible rulings that have been trumpetted all over the place. I wasn't sure that ScoBar should have copped a card in a perfect world - given where the contact was - and I'm not sure what the difference is any more. That irish lock did exactly what ScoBar did - not even a penalty. Hodge inadvertanetly hits someone in the head with a shoulder adn they're off for an HIA -- nothing. SBW rolls into a second man in situation and cops a red.
It's the consistency. What is a red - does it need maliciousness? The current protocols are very clear, and I think if an AB did it and copped a red, I'd be frustrated , but understand the rules.
I am now in full grumpy old man mode, but the refereeing consistency (not just quality) is my big bugbear. Bah, bloody humbug.

from the Grauniad:
World Rugby’s tackle directives could not be any clearer about a collision like this. Hodge did not use his arms, his shoulder collided with Yato’s head, and, since they had both been standing up, there were no mitigating circumstances. -

If there is any whining it is about the so called clear directives that are getting applied haphazardly.
My complaint is that we lose a player for a mistimed challenge yet in other games it is “OK”.
WR even made videos to explain their (IMO) quite hard ruling directive yet their employees seemingly didn’t watch them.

Hodge cited. He’s gone I’d say for at least the pool games.

Disciplinary update: Reece Hodge (Australia)
Australia winger Reece Hodge has been cited by John Montgomery (Scotland) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) in the 25th minute of Australia’s Rugby World Cup 2019 Pool D match against Fiji on 21 September. Hodge will attend a hearing before an independent judicial committee chaired by Nigel Hampton, QC (New Zealand), former international coach Frank Hadden (Scotland) and former referee José Luis Rolandi (Argentina). The hearing will take place in Tokyo with the date and time to be confirmed shortly.

Happy? No
Understanding? Accepting? Yes -
I've just seen that Hodge incident. That's bullshit. In real speed that's absolutely nothing.
Rugby is fucked. Grow a pair you fairies

Wake up and smell the 21st century FFS - you can carry on with that shit if you want rugby to get sued to oblivion in a few years

You can grow a set too
Play rugby, get hit in the head. What constitutes foul play has been lost in a desperate attempt to stave off the lawyers.

@mariner4life you've obviously taken a few
-
So you really think that was foul play and worth a couple of weeks?
Really?
-
It wasn't a bad tackle outcome that forced the Fijian from the field, it was an act of foul play.

I tend to agree with you but we need a lot more consistency in the rulings.

A shoulder charge to the head that forced a player from the field?
Yes, really.
