[Victor Meldrew]

Chester Williams of 1996 RWC fame has died aged 49. Iconic player who also coached at 7s and Super Rugby level.

Very good player but mostly I always liked the way he carried himself - especially from all the fame and pressure that came from being in a racially-charged post-Apartheid spotlight.

Bok legend Chester Williams dies

Legendary 1995 World Cup-winning Springbok wing Chester Williams passed away on Friday at the age of 49.

Legendary 1995 World Cup-winning Springbok wing Chester Williams passed away on Friday at the age of 49.

That hurts.

Shared two beers with him in the HK football club once. Lovely bloke, massive smile and was really cool about life. I didn’t think he looked in great health then tho - had that really uncomfortable bloated look to him.

A true icon of the game and South Africa.
