... or charter a plane to transport 45 people. Hell, buy a plane and fly teams aroudn, disinfecting between times

The internet provides so much useful information in life.
The bombardier Q300 costs aroudn $USD1500/hour to operate. Costs $17M new. So a weekend of charters (top of my head), transporting two teams away and back would cost about $10k or so (say 6 hours of flying time).
Seems very reasonable; about $100 per person total.

The Dash 8 was an incredibly popular aircraft that was sold many times and finally underwent major changes to make it much more reliable, environmentally friendly, and quieter for passengers. The Q300 is still available today, and is a powerful aircraft for shorter flights.

@Daffy-Jaffy It's good to see NZR and Sky coming up with something innovative during this period, but that's not a format I'd be interested in. Perhaps it will be great for a younger generation.

Crusaders apparently even worse off.
The Crusaders are one of five $10 million-plus businesses in New Zealand Super Rugby effectively operating without income while sport pauses worldwide. It's creating a grim outlook for operations that still have hefty overheads to meet. Mansbridge said they had been "really rigorous" with all their contracted services, and had already had some difficult conversations with fulltime staff. @Stargazer The Highlanders would be the smallest of the 5 franchises in terms of operating costs, and there is only so much fat you can trim to save money. The main sponsors of each team might have to dig deeper into their pockets.
