I don't mind the designs themselves but seriously question whether their use for purpose is understood.
If you want to create strong fandom and attachment you need to stick to simple colours. The whole reason you have teams called Reds or Blues etc is because that is how fans of other teams described their attachment. Look how gangs will use colours as symbols, or countries in the past with banners and uniforms.Chiefs need to stick heavily to their yellow, black and red. Blues need to be one shade of Blue not five.
Give fans a reason to wear a collared scarf or hat etc and nail those colours to a mast. The other stuff is fine for training kit but match kit should be simple
Their purpose is to be sold. So they need to be clearly differentiated from year to year and stand out on the rack in a shop that probably has at least a dozen different sport teams and probably more.

The Highlanders jersey looks like it originally started out a dark blue but has been through too many hot washes and has faded badly to get to then look it has in the photo above. Interesting to note there is no sponsor name on the front of the Crusaders jersey, it would suit SBW ideally as it saves him the expense of having to tape over any offending advertising on it! Could this be an indicator of a sudden change on mind and a return to his first Super Rugby franchise might be imminent?

I didn't notice that. I do prefer the jerseys without being plastered in adverts.
Maybe just winning the comp year after year is enough to forego any sponsorships?
