@J77 yeah she was a tough watch today, first 20 or so, we played well, looked really good, but knew Taranaki would eventually break us, was just hoping it wasnt going to be that badly.
Sounds like a few of the injuries sustained today will see a raft of changes for next weekend...HB will be licking thier lips, will be a fair few newbies who will get a shot next week.
I honestly think most of the cattle is good enough, 12/13 is a bit of a problem area though, however we looked really disorganised in the backs, several times J-Deb obviously called a move, and then whoever was supposed to be recieving it, was not where he was supposed to be, so the ball was dropped, or regathered slowing the move.
Then there were the basics, which I guess I can forgive from many of them as when things start going south, it all goes south...that miss by Gregory, you could see he was ready for it, the comms mentioned the winds swirled there, and then it came back and dropped away from him...when you are down, that shit happens more often, when you are on, it bounces and goes out, or you get some luck.
Our pack looked solid, although looked shattered at the end, they played themselves to a standstill, its when it leaves the scrum/lineout/ruck/maul problems start

I’m excited!
Although, I’ll be less excited if Steve Walsh comes out of retirement to ref this one (that should get this thread moving along).
I bloody bet you’re excited..and so you should be.
If you’re coming up Okara Park is the only ground in NZ where they have these cool light blue turnstiles in the middle of the field. It’s unique. Postcard type stuff.

from what I have heard through the grapevine re Injuries...
Hyland 1-2 weeks, hammy
Matich failed HIA on Sunday, so unknown if he will be available
Faiane injured in Dev game, likely 2-3 weeks
Heard nothing on Goodhue, so not sure why he went off, hopefully not another HIA
Hawkins gone, broken leg - have to assume that is likely his last time in Cambridge Blue too? Sad way for him to bow out if it is.Think that was all of them.
Unsure what they can do in regard to back up 10, Faiane was back up to Hawkins, he is out, not sure if they are allowed to bring in someone else (or did we have another 10?)
I think Tom Smith was named as a 10 in the squad initially? Nikau was only there on an 'apprentice' or development contract?
Hoping we dont do what Kamo did, and put Hohaia at 10...
When was Robinson due back?

@taniwharugby not what you need when your playing like crap.

I'd love to go to the game - sadly the commute from Sydney is a bit too far!

@Nepia call yourself a fan...oh wait, I cant go on Saturday either, have a family thing
@kev TBH I am still confident the majority of the team is good enough, our biggest issues are at 12/13, although some tactics leave a lot to be desired too, so not sure changing the mid-field will resolve these
I went to Whangarei for the first time ever this year - by went there I mean drove through on the way to Auckland from the Bay of Islands. We were planning to grab lunch there but ran out of time.

You just like beer.

The intention 3 days earlier was to stop in at Whangarei (heard so many stories about the place during Uni days) but also we ran out of time. I'm still keen to get up to Okara Park some day (I plan to visit all the NPC grounds at some stage - probably already been to 3/4s).

@taniwharugby agree 100% with that.

1 Pouri Rakete-Stones, 2 Ash Dixon, 3 Ben May, 4 Isaia Walker-Leawere, 5 Tom Parsons, 6 Geoff Cridge, 7 Brendon O’Connor, 8 Gareth Evans, 9 Folau Fakatava, 10 Lincoln McClutchie, 11 Mason Emerson, 12 Danny Toala, 13 Stacey Ili, 14 Neria Fomai, 15 Caleb Makene
Reserves: 16 Kianu Kereru-Symes, 17 Jason Long, 18 Namatahi Waa, 19 Michael Allardice, 20 Devan Flanders, 21 Josh Kaifa, 22 Zach Donaldson, 23 Ollie Sapsford
-
@taniwharugby Maybe that's why The Bay are willing to risk having a few forwards filling in out in the backs if injuries make it necessary!
-
@Higgins I have no idea what our side will look like, we have a few injury concerns, plus some other issues that I am not sure if personnel changes will fix.
But this is my starting 15
Te Whata-Colley, Olsen, Tu'ungafasi
Goodhue, Caird
McNamara, Matiu, Matich
Levien, J-Deb,
Gregory, Cherrington (debut)
Leilua, Rae, Roberts-Te Nanavery raw team, especially in the backs, but TBH, after last week, we need to do something and I dont think we can be worse, particularly in the mid-field. Unsure if the tactics are the issue or the players, but both looked poor v Taranaki.
-
A few more out of my lineup...oh man.
