NBA season 2019/20

@mariner4life lots of things are "meh" now. 40 point games, 50 point quarters. Both teams scoring 120+ in a game. Every man and his dog can shoot three-pointers. Big-name players seemingly get and an extra one to two steps before its a travel. Defence optional.

This is why the NBA season is too long. The Celtics hosed the Lakers today, with both lebron and Davis playing good minutes. That should be big news. But it's basically "meh"
It was one of the better balanced games by the Celts this season. The Brown, Tatum, Kemba, Haywood quartet worked well.
I love the NBA and have been following it since I was 5 years old, but for the reason you point out college hoops is way more interesting to me because every game counts. The conference tourneys are awesome and then the tournament into final four is drama filled sport of the highest quality IMO.

did you see the one last month where LBJ just walked down the court with teh ball in his hand? it's hilarious.

@ACT-Crusader Ingram is looking very much like a franchise player. Ball is coming into his own and the Pelicans look like a solid unit. Capable of a playoff run next season. I think, if his knee holds up, Zion will struggle to find a place in a team trying to play small ball. I honestly think he'll be traded.

That's a pretty huge call to make given he hasn't played a game yet. The pre-season glimpses indicate he could be a superstar.

@barbarian I know its an unfounded call. I don't think he will be a bust but I think he may fit elsewhere better. He could be a great trade piece for the Pelicans to strengthen their bench and possibly get playoff pieces.

No chance they trade Zion. He's a potential superstar and he's on a rookie contract.
He may very well be a bust, injured for 70% of his career, but there is no way you could or would trade him at this point.

I find it hard to watch the NBA without laughing (until the playoffs), but that takes the cake.

@voodoo Iām not saying heāll be gone before this trade deadline Iām saying next season. I would love to me wrong. Iād love to be talking out my ass. I just a have a feeling heās not right for that teams chances of making the playoffs.
Heās a man child. Amazing athleticism. Reminds me of a smaller version of the Reign Man, Shawn Kemp. Itāll be interesting see how he fits in on Thursday. Iām hopeful of seeing him dominate.

@raznomore yeah, it's just that the trade mechanics don't work. Because you have to match salaries, the fact that he "only" makes $9-13m per year for the next 4 years means that you'd be trading him for pennies on the dollar unless you scored a host of draft picks in return. There aren't too many good assets out there on that salary. Edit - I guess they could always lump in some more assets, I haven't trawled their roster to see what options they have. And to clarify, this restriction is only because they're already above the cap
In terms of his fit, its really hard to know how he'll go. At the moment you'd say he should probably be surrounded by shooters to give him space to work inside, and the Pelicans shoot the 3 pretty well. They made 21 of em today at 44%, hardly shabby.
Ingram has certainly had a breakout season though. Will be interesting to see how they gel together.

@mariner4life crazy. That was garbage time. They were down by plenty and no need to go for that last shot. But the standing over him was too much. Then the same guy grabbed a chair. That'll be him. Allan Iverson almost went to jail for that and they didn't even have it on film. Albeit Iverson allegedly hit someone with the chair.

Iāve never been able to figure out if AI is really āabout that lifeā or that incident forced him into an image he decided to adopt.
He seems like nice guy that played gangsta and ended up losing his career because of it.
