@JC @akan004 I will admit I didn't watch most of the NZ innings so didn't know how CdH batted earlier but Guptill is struggling to hit the ball outside the 30 m circle. There had to be someone other than Guptill.

Agreed it had to be someone else. Either Kane or Taylor would have been a better choice.

Yep I said Neesh and Kane at 6.09am. Guppy's two boundaries from 8 hours earlier shouldn't have taken precedence over Kanes' tournament form and uncanny ability to hit sixes to win games.

@Snowy What's ridiculous is the farking boundaries calculation. Surely the team who lost the least number of wickets wins the match.

Abso-fucking-lutely this is how it SHOULD be decided. Bryan Waddle and Jerry Coney are both tipping up deluxe on radio this morning, and rightly so. Since when are fours and sixes more vaulable than wickets? Duckworth & Lewis principles would have had us wunning this game.

    For fucks' sake.

@shark Apparently it used to be the least number of wickets lost in previous WCs. Just our luck that the fluffybunnies changed the rules for this WC.

It was quite fitting that the guy who made a hash brown of a review should be run out to lose the match.

Tremendous game though. Maybe the greatest ever I can recall. Gutted and proud all at the same time. We were incredibly unlucky today.

No consolation but funny when all and sundry were collapsing around him, A kiwi pulled them through. Super mental strength by Stokes.

I really am gutted but what a game of cricket. Happy enough for England too.

Hard to stomach that given it was technically a draw ,

At least with 2015 you could say we were shit, they outplayed us ,we didn’t deserve it

    Fuck , fuckety, fuck

@shark That's what some guy on twitter said. Not certain of this though.

I really feel for Guppy. That was a truly cruel end to the tournament for him. But he did waste that review with Nicholls' assistance, and this probably (Taylor may have been out next ball anyway) contributed to the eventual loss. Then to be asked to squeeze out two runs minimum off the last ball of a super over to win the match was tough. The skipper was a much better bet to partner Neesham in that over.

@shark He did have the chance to "win" the last 2 games but the final ball summed up his tournament. Sport can be cruel.

I agree but they would have had a hell of a team meeting with coaches as well to determine who should be out there. I tend to agree with Ian Smith that they need two players that could engineer power off that deck.

I'm not disappointed with the decision for those two to be chosen. (Still doesn't help with getting over the loss)

How unlucky were we with that ricochet? That was the turning point of the end there.

@shark He was also the one who threw the ball that deflected and went for four. The guy has had the worst luck this game.

    Not having it.

We won the 50 over contest by virtue of less wickets lost.

    Bah humbug

I couldn't do it. Watched briefly up until Guptill's dismissal, then went to bed and switched my phone to airplane mode. Woke up just after 6am, assuming the game should be over & switched my phone back on, saw on Stuff that it had gone to a super over then checked 20 mins to see that we'd lost.

If I really wanted to be put through the emotional wringer, I'll just go on a few more dates with Tinder girls.

I accept we didn’t win the World Cup.

I don’t accept losing the match.

Unfortunately, that’s the rules we, and England, signed up to.

    Hurts,life.

    I agree with this.

    Runs
    Wickets
    Boundaries
If those don't separate you, THEN have a Super Over, because it's like dropgoals for Rugby tie breakers.

@NTA I'm ok with the super over. But I think using boundaries to then separate teams is a load of horse shit. We lost fewer / took more wickets.

    End fucking of. Gah.
