Chiefs 2020

I actually thought this was the most interesting bit.
Contrary to recent media speculation I can confirm to Shareholders that the Chiefs Rugby Club does not employ the head coach nor the senior assistant head coach. It is standard operating practice that New Zealand Rugby employs two coaches for every New Zealand Super Rugby Clubs. Anything contrary to this point in the media is misleading.
obviously nzr decided they couldn't possibly pass up the opportunity to get Gats back to NZ, I couldn't see him going anywhere other than Chiefs.. nzr think he's the future, not Coops.. so he got shuffled along with the rest of his salary paid out.
I didn't realise that wasn't a Chiefs decision... and a pointer towards Gats moving into AB's role?

@WillieTheWaiter The fact that it's NZR who employs (two) coaches per franchise, doesn't mean that it wasn't the Chiefs decision to have him as their head coach. One doesn't exclude the other. I don't believe for a second that he would be the new Chiefs head coach if they didn't want him.

@Canes4life as a Blues supporter I would take him over Christie

@Stargazer yeah a bit shattered with that news, Debreczini has been fantastic for the Taniwha and unfortunately we only saw a bite size of how good he was at super level.
I actually believe he is more rounded than any of the first fives at the Blues..,he definitely better than Otere Black, I am willing to cut young Plummer a bit of slack to be fair..
Luckily Northland has a couple of young guys coming through. -
@Nogusta said in Chiefs 2020:
D'Angelo Leuila went pretty good last night!?
I thought he looked very handy but I would much prefer the Chiefs pick a 1st 5 from within the region. Leuila is the same age as Falcon, who is already there. I would select one of Trask or Reihana (or both) and make them long-term investments.

@cgrant yea he played for Samoa on their 2016 Northern tour. He kicked some crucial penalties in their win against Canada from memory. He'd just led the Samoa 20s in their the U20 Championships win then got selected for the senior Samoa side when Alama Ieremia was coach.

Etene set for the Olympics next year and seems like he won't take part in Super Rugby.

I expected someone to mention this...
