@Stargazer the Canes signed him in 2015. Probably too young at the time, and I recall a furore over his signing ahead of more experienced players, but he's not made an impression when he's been fit since.
You mean, in all those 8 minutes that the Canes gave him off the bench? In his first four years at the Canes he had two Anterior Cruciate Ligament ruptures in his knee, a fractured femur in his leg, shoulder surgery and a back injury.
He's been good in his 38 games for Hawke's Bay, although mostly not at lock, but in the 6 jersey.
I see he was another poach out of Christchurch by Hawkes Bay. They're as bad as Otago was in the early 90s.
Haha, you just made that up. He came to Hawke's Bay because Canterbury wasn't interested in signing him. Same story as Brodie Retallick, who didn't get a Canterbury academy contract.
The decreasing number of players we have from outside the province (we don't have many at the moment), are usually players that didn't get picked in their home province or are forced on us by the Hurricanes.
A few Cantabs came with the coach from Canterbury that nobody in the Bay rates, but not many of them made the Magpies.
Also, a Canterbury supporter accusing another (much smaller) province from poaching is a bit rich, isn't it? We'd love to get George Bridge back from Canterbury, if he doesn't make the ABs, by the way.
Absolute gold đ„

anyone heard who it was in involved?
-
@Kiwiwomble I think I know who possibly were in that group, but I'm not willing to post the names of these two players on a public website, considering the media are reading here, too.
-
@Stargazer of course, was more wondering if there had been a public statement or something
-
@Kiwiwomble Haven't seen anything, yet, other than that possibly four players were involved.

The Highlanders have apologised after seven of their players were involved in drunken night out in Queenstown last weekend, but none of the group will be stood down from the game against the Blues in Dunedin on Sunday.
âFrom our investigation, we can confirm that no damage at the apartments was caused by any Highlanders player,â CEO Roger Clark said. âWe can also confirm that no Highlanders player is facing any action from the police. âHaving said that, weâre extremely disappointed that some of our playersâ antisocial behaviour forced guests to endure a disturbed night. âAs a club we apologise unreservedly to those guests involved.â The Highlanders have not revealed the identity of the players involved, describing it as an employment issueâ, but say they will face internal sanctions.
The Highlanders also confirmed to Stuff that Josh Ioane, Teariki Ben-Nicholas and Ayden Johnstone were not among the seven players who partied throughout the night. Ioane had posted a picture on social media of the trio with a group of friends in Queenstown on Saturday, but the Highlandersâ investigation revealed they had all left town before the evening spiralled out of control.

So I was out in Qtn one night a number of years ago, midweek, and several of the Highlanders of the time were out and getting stuck in. But when it was starting to get messy, Jamie Mackintosh took them away. Like any situation like that, a group needs senior management be they players or actual managers in a business sense, who can see when enough is enough and control things. I bet they didn't have that person who could keep a lid on it. And if they did, they need their fucking ass kicked.

it was Aaron Smith who was supposed to be in charge. But he went to the toilet, and took too long to come back
