@KiwiMurph Yeah - it's unlikely to be a position of strength for the Blues.
Ruru looks like he's got the skills but not the vision/cool head and Finlay is a bit the other way round.
Have to hope that with another year under their belts they'll be better. Interesting looking at some of these halfbacks - Finlay is only 24. Nock is 23. Still kids.
Drummond who seems to have been around an age is 25 (though nearly 26). Ruru is 26 but nearly 27, so should be in his prime.
Yeah the main issue with Ruru is his distribution. I could live with his lack of cool head but his passing his simply not quick or accurate enough - it causes issues for the whole attack. He's a terrific defender but I don't think that's as important in the current game. Nock has the best distribution of the 3 and it feels like now or never for him at the Blues.

@Nepia That plan got scuppered when Leon went to the Blues and Razor didn't become AB coach.
Now we have to work the Blues system instead!
Quite a few big guns already lost from last year - Crockett, Perry, Squire, Taufua - and Foster will likely be taking at least some of Moli, Frizell, Parkinson, Strange, Nankivell, Jordan and Havili.

yeah his development/progress has been disappointing to say the least.
His pass is bloody good alright, but he needs to be more decisive about what he is doing, and use his pace more, as he rarely snipes (which is annoying because he has good pace) meaning opposition defenders only need to worry about if he is passing or kicking.

@Daffy-Jaffy One positive from last season was that our ball movement was a lot better than previous seasons.
-
Gee itโs bloody hot at Takapuna ;should be at the beach instead..
-
6min Ben Lam Converted in the corner after some concerted pressure by the forwards, converted By Smith
11min Tony Lambourn a try in the corner converted by Perofeta ..great break by Perofeta that lead up to the try..and some great blindside work saw a well finished try..7-7
-
15min Jordon Hyland scores in the corner after some great work in the midfield ...conversion astray Blues 12-7
James Tucker leaves field with what looks like a knee injury -
@Steven-Harris ah man that sucks if it's bad
-
25min great sustained pressure from the Blues ,Dalton Papalii scores from a quick tap..all off the back of a great line out drive..
Blues 17-7 -
Really impressed Papalii..also Joe Marchant showing some great touches, looks to have superb footwork...and strength for a guy who does not look that big..
-
First scrum after 27minutes..wtf..
-
@Steven-Harris Anything to say about the Hurricanes players?
-
2 dominant scrums from the Blues
-
34 minutes..not sure who the try scorer is , maybe Riccitelli .or Chase Tiatia after a series of drives ..try converted 14-17 Blues
-
@Steven-Harris most likely Riccitelli, Tiaita usually stays away from dark places.
-
@Stargazer Laumape has been a constant threat with ball in hand, but much of the Canes passing has been sloppy ..Kirifi and Liam Mitchell along with Riccitelli the best in the forwards.
-
@Canes4life It was indeed Riccitelli, according to the Hurricanes twitter.
-
Halftime 17-14 Blues ...
Only 2 scrums in the first half ..
Canes will have the wind in the 2nd half...
Ben Lam has looked sharp when he has had ball...plenty of effort going in from both teams ,,Akira Ioane also getting through some work,Josh Goodhue since he has come on is getting though a ton of wok, has carried several times already .forgot to mention Mark Talea...the man has some wheels and footwork , Chase Tiatia was kept reasonably quiet..plenty of defenders on him
