Quality No 10s are like buses....
You wait for years for one to come, then two turn up at the same time?
Oh I thought he meant they're the main form of public transport in New Zealand.

Im starting to see why you spend so much time on an internet forum.

I can now really see Otere Black moving back to the Canes. Maybe not next season, because he's signed with the Blues through to 2021, but if/when he has the chance, he might jump ship.

@Stargazer Canes might've already picked up another 10 for next year....(ex) UK based looking for a new gig...

You're assuming a 38 year old injury cover will make the team ahead of Black
Perofeta's injury might be good news for Black. There aren't many fullback options in the squad (Duffie, Page, Heighton) so the chances of Barrett playing fullback have increased

Black at 10 and Barrett at 15 is better than Barrett at 10 and Duffie at 15.
I can see Dan being on the bench for most of the season covering 10/12.

This paragraph in the herald is interesting
The Blues are thought to have been in talks with Carter for some time and a foot injury to Stephen Perofeta, who has been playing fullback for the side, in training this week may have fast-tracked the chance to sign Carter on a replacement contract for the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition, starting next week.
So they were talking before the injury? Is this a longer term thing, is he wanting to play next year?
-
Wow, it would be crazy to watch DC and AC run out against each other again.
-
-
-
I LOVE YOU DAN!!!!!!
-
BRING ON NEXT SUNDAY!
-
Press conference is starting soon. There's a live stream on this page:
-
So Carter just said that he doesn't know whether he'll be playing? Did I hear that right?

With the same result.

Yep. He's injury cover, and signed as utility cover. Need to go through the training to get ready for selection, then needs to get ahead of the current team members (or we have more injuries). Has had little contact recently.
That comment was more about that it's not automatic selection because he's DC.

Yes, because he's weeks away from being available for selection.
-
His off field role is going to super important for some of the younger players. He was also talking about goal kicking with BB, also a bonus.
Very well handled pres conference. Leon is pretty astute, and pragmatic.
-
$1800 per week will be money well spent to have DC as a mentor.
-
NZ Rugby have to be stoked - great boost for the comp.
-
I have no idea why this excites me so much, but it does. I wouldn't be as excited if Ritchie McCaw came back as I know he prolly wouldn't cut it out in the forwards but I can see DC running a back line and smoking people in the tackle.
Blues! You deserve none of this good fortune!

@antipodean all goes back to teh new Board a few years ago. They got Leon on board, then made the call to replace Tana, and it's all cascading from there. Major back office changes are helping too.
This all comes back to good governance, and creating a sensible environment for people to excel in. I'm delighted, and hopefully this is the first of a long string of great outcomes fro teh Blues.

@nzzp speaking of back office changes....a staffer who gets mentioned a lot on here has been noticeably absent since the return from lockdown
if you're talking about our dreaded defence coach, he's been pretty good in the background I'd say. Haven't noticed his absence (yet) ... if not, I've missed that completely!

As a Crusaders fan I have no problem with DC signing for the Blues he gave loyal service to us through his peak years.
As a mentor he will be Awesome,I am not sure how much at 38 he can/will contribute on the field if he gets on the field I hope he can hack the pace etc of SR now.I would hate to see DC remembered for what may happen if its not great. -
Leon MacDonald:
We have two designated 10s in Beauden and Otere, and Dan will be there to help them and our other young backs. If he gets back into playing form that warrants selection, then he could help us as a utility back in midfield or fullback.
Pretty clear about the pecking order.
No mention of Plummer who I suspect will only be seen as the backup 12 in this competition. That seems like his correct position and the Blues don't have many midfielders

He looks good in Blue

You buy a Subaru Leone, and it serves you well for a decade and you put 190k on it, and then you sell it to the guy down the road when the CVs are going to break.
Even if you think hes a douche, you still get a little kick out of seeing it drive around.
