Blues 2020

given the nature of that test, i would expect halfbacks to be at the pointy end, with inside backs just behind.
-
@mariner4life good call. Small, light, fast dudes will crush it with all the turning and acceleration
-
@nzzp not just that, but the specific fitness demands so the positions will dictate how they perform.
Halfbacks have long, sustained efforts in a game, with inside backs being much the same. Outside backs require explosive efforts followed by recovery.

Does anyone know if Akira finished?
Or did he run up near the cone and stand back waiting -

I think it's good we start seeing these numbers, rugby seems to have been reluctant to give out stats on training figures, and is only been in recent years they have started giving more info and also better access to in-play stats too.
I am a bit of a nerd for that stuff, so always look at the American sports and wish we had access to that sort of data, given I assume coaches must have access to it all (I recall years back when Wayne SMith used to talk about passive/dominant tackles and they talked about a program they used to analise player stats)
I did my L2 coaching last year, and we had access to some of the Super rugby tools in a video session and was great to see, as basic as it seemed.

@taniwharugby Itโs another thing that helps fan engagement. If youโre not interested, no bother. But if you are, itโs another thing to argue about in the pub on Thursday onwards

@Bovidae usually it is done with multiple people, is def not as good on your own or with someone a bit slower than you (eg BB with Tu'ungafasi)
When doing fitness with TR Jnr last year I was a good 30 -40 sec slower (as I was quite a bit quicker than him) than i was when I did it with his team who had a couple of kids that do well under 5 mins.

You still smoking him in sprints ? great work, he's a teenager now isn't he ? I hammered the boys in a sprint over the weekend but only cos the other half was watching.
Strange seeing Read reasonably low in that Crusaders list.

@Bovidae its an individual fitness test. no one is helping you run faster. its just a group shuttle run
My point was more related to what we often see at the Olympics when some athletes do PBs as they are "pulled along" by faster competitors in an effort to keep up. Basically for the reason @taniwharugby says.
-
@muddyriver yeah I understand that, but competition drives people.
@MN5 he was just 13 when we last did one, we did some stuff over lockdown and he is still behind the old man...I hassle him about being slower, cos I gotta!

As Dads we have to make the most of our physical traits cos theirs will only get better as ours deteriorate......
