@canefan like Steve Waugh: he will have to put away childish things if he wants to complete himself as a batsman
Same as Maxwell. Sometimes it isn't helpful to be able to play all the shots. Mark Richardson averaged 40+ and only had about 3 shots

India 306 total. They started slow but the batting in the last 10 overs was ridiculously safe considering they had a chaseable target and wickets in hand.
Massive game on Wednesday - England needs to win as Pakistan will almost certainly roll the Bangles on Friday. Luckily for us the Pakistan RR is much worse than ours but we still need a tight game at the very least and ideally a win.

@booboo if we don't make it I don't think we can argue that it wasn't undeserved. We got a free point against India, dodged a bullet against SA and WI, and our batting crumbled against Aussie. And our opening pair probably average in single figures for the whole tournament

I'm going back to my stance that making the Semis is a win for us- we've performed as expected. The Media really wound up on us as we beat lower ranked sides, but we struggle to consistently win against classy opposition. Fourth in the world is a good result for us - and realistically, we're touch and go with Pakistan.

England were poor v SL and Aus then looked like world beaters v India. Here's hoping we can have a similar turnaround.
Pakistan RR= -0.792
NZ RR = +0.572If it comes down to RR it will probably be tight.
Yep - that heavy loss was as bad as it gets. If we get pumped again, and the Bangles get smashed, that could be us done.
That said, if we lose heavily to Aus and England, and don't play India, and lose to Pakistan we don't deserve to make the semis.
Great tournament though - it just rolls on, and damn near every game means somethign

Agree 100%.
Weirdly the Bangles still have an outside chance of making the semis. Very unlikely but with the vagaries of sport they could still upset Pakistan and the result on Wednesday won't matter.

Net Run Rate - basically it's our average RPO rate batting, minus the average RPO against us. I think that means that changing it at th eback end of the tournament is damn hard -- so we should be OK given we've played 7 games so far. Would need a hell of a loss.
“A team’s net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team throughout the competition, the average runs per over scored against that team throughout the competition.
“In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of its net run rate shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed.
“Only those matches where results are achieved will count for the purpose of net run rate calculations. Where a match is abandoned, but a result is achieved under Duckworth/Lewis/Stern, for net run rate purposes Team 1 will be credited with Team 2’s Par Score on abandonment off the same number of overs faced by Team 2. Where a match is concluded with Duckworth/Lewis/Stern having been applied at an earlier point in the match, Team 1 will be credited with 1 run less than the final Target Score for Team 2 off the total number of overs allocated to Team 2 to reach the target.”

Wouldn't they have to get past BOTH India AND Pakistan?
