2019 Cricket ODI WC

I fancy England in the semi finals. They are devastating playing from in front, but otherwise. Very similar to some of the more flawed AB sides of recent decades, not so much chokers but really seem to have a mental block about reverting to the basics when things get tight.
NZ can't beat England straight up, but much like SA in the past two CWC we can drag them into a shitfight and from there we are marginally favourites IMO.
India on talent and Australia on muscle memory against NZ the closer the game is the more worried I would be. I would want to avoid both.

Poms lose.
Being reported like the biggest upset in the history of time.
England have a tough run in, Aussie India and us. If they lose to oz and India that final match will be massive

Wow, cool result for a struggling, yet always likeable Sri Lanka. Really pleased for them.
That Angelo Mathews is one hell of a player.
Not sure it'll affect the expected semi finalist quartet but great to see a genuine upset.
Tiny bits of self doubt for the poms?

@Siam if they lose to the Aussies the pressure will rapidly intensify. How long until it starts to erode their confidence? The #1 ranking is a hindrance because it has only served to ratchet up the expectations of the home media and fans. Which are already unrealistically high

Agreed. Sri Lanka have West Indies, South Africa and India. England have Australia, India, us and a two point lead and a significant lead on net run rate. But if they lose to the aussies and Sri Lanka beats the West Indies (their next matches and both easily possible results), Sri Lanka goes level on points and then the pressure will really be on because they won't just have to win, but keep nrr high. Sri Lanka also play their last game after England too (albeit against India) so in a tied situation they'll have the advantage of knowing exactly what they need to do in terms of nrr.

Want to see class rewatch Kane getting his ‘match winning’ 100.
Class is awesome.
Trophies are better.
Amazingly Warner isn’t even the biggest fluffybunny in that photo

England could be in trouble, if they drop their next game vs Australia. But I won't be cheering for that.
At least this upset has breathed some life into the semi final qualification permutations.
Got that right.
how about this for a stat - not the current England team, whcih is a totally different beast to previous years, but still: England have lost their last 10 games in a row to AUS IND NZ at world cups.

This is a cracker of a match between India and Afghans.
Afghans need 23 off 14. Wrong guy on strike
-
There is praying in the stands from Indian fans.
This would be monumental. 19 off 10
-
This is quality bowling from Bumrah
-
Big time shot down the ground. 12 off 5.
-
Arghhh Nabi gone.
12 off 3 and no hitters left.
-
india win and Shami closes the game with a walkoff hattrick.

Looking at the table and fixtures, both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have India to play which means it's pretty unlikely they will go 3 for 3. If Sri Lanka beats SA and WI and it's rained off v India and we lose every game from now on then they could sneak in on NRR. Or they could win every game and we lose every game. All scenarios also include the other current semi teams surpassing us - England has Aus+Ind+NZ and have to win at least 2 of those to surpass us which is also unlikely.
Basically the only scenarios where we don't make the semis are extremely unlikely. England not making it is more likely I would think.
