I'm assuming that is only viewership in the States for GOT and NFL? I would say world wide GOT would have been much greater?
-
Also, HBO and NFL are on slightly different platforms (extra subscription cable versus basic cable/free to air), and that number (13.6 million) doesn't include other streaming (i.e., only via cable connection I think) which puts it up towards 20 million - about the same as the premium weekly games (like Monday night football, Thursday night game of the week) - and a record for HBO I think.
It's still miles below the Super Bowl though of course, which has like a third of the population watch (about 100 million).

Pre-season kicked off yesterday with the Falcons vs Broncos. Was a snoozer.
Other news: Aaron Donald came in at #1 in the Top 100 Players in the NFL.
It's incredible that a guy that small is so dominant on the inside. First DT to have 20 sacks in a season. -

It's incredible that a guy that small is so dominant on the inside. First DT to have 20 sacks in a season.Did he even get a sack in the post season? I think most teams nullified him.. but no surprises for him to be #1.. you have to double team him, like the good teams did in the playoffs..
Really surprised to see Brees in at #2..
I really thought Mahomes had a shot as #1..
But yes, let's let have 6 time superbowl winner have more ammunition to drive him this season.. have 2 QBs ahead of him in the rankings lol -
@mimic They vote on the rankings at the end of the regular season, so I think it's fair that Mahomes and Brees were ahead of Brady. Both had awesome seasons.
The list is always weird every year though, guys like DeForest Buckner, Chandler Jones, Kevin Byard and Quenton Nelson didn't even make the list this year.
This is the real #1 though.:smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes:

Another big play from Christian Wade in a preseason game, showing the skills you'd expect of someone who played international Rugby. Talk that he could become the Buffalo Bills starting Running Back. I expect a lot more interest now in disgruntled but fast Rugby players from NFL scouts.
-
@sparky I'll be surprised if he got close to being the starting running back. If you're playing in the 4th quarter in a pre-season game, the truth is, you're well down the pecking order on the team. Good to see him making some plays though.
Word is that it’s Perry and Yeldon fighting for the last RB spot.
Good on Wade for making the most of his preseason opportunities though. Got people talking.
-
The other factor is that the teams get an extra practice squad place for the international programme (or whatever its called) players. So unless they look capableof starting right away, expect them to be stashed. That bonus practice squad spot means they can't be activated.

In breaking news Andrew Luck is retiring from the NFL. Indy are poked now
Talk about dropping the bombshell a week or two before the start of the season. Indy were rating themselves a chance this season too.
He's sick of being crocked. Fair enough
