Always had a soft spot for the first two years of addidas jerseys. Found good pic of all five.
Whose the Highlanders 9? Brett McCormack (is that even a player or did I make it up?)
I assume so. And I think he's alongside the battler Aaron Flynn?
Yep, and Mark Robinson, Spice and Duggan.
I just had a thought, if Flynn was playing today he'd probably make the ABs - evidence Drummond and Hall!!! being called up.
Well done on not mentioning Chris Eaton.

Basically a shout out to Wellington & Taranaki, while the rest of the provinces can get farrrrked.
Nothings changed ... despite the Naki being theoretically in the Chiefs now. :face_with_stuck-out_tongue:
So was Taranaki ever part of a title winning team?

Nope. Tarankai are infinity times less successful than Buller and West Coast at Super Rugby. They are also infinity times less successful than places like Nelson Bays that have simply given up already.

A work colleague tried to argue that North Harbour also has never been part of a winning Super Rugby franchise (at the franchise's time of winning). That would require the affiliation switch by North Harbour from the Chiefs to the Blues to be AFTER 2003. I'm sure it was earlier & the Blues site seems to support it:
By the end of the 1990’s, a switch of provincial unions with neighbours the Chiefs, brought players from North Harbour and Northland into the Blues, and saw Counties and Thames Valley aligned closer to home with the Chiefs.

yea, once Jonah and Joeli were gone, the Blues threw Counties away like an old drop sheet.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
I believe the Counties/North Harbour Blues change happened between the 1998 season and 1999 season (Blues played a home game vs the Reds in 1999 at North Harbour that resulted in a 12 all draw. It was an awful game that summed up the Jed Rowlands 1999 season).
Jonah played for the Chiefs in 99 when Counties were aligned to the Chiefs. Joeli continued to play for the Blues in 99, 00 and 01.

Wasn't a straight swap. Northland were also part of the Chiefs. So the Blues swapped out Counties for NH and Northland.

Just picked my 1996 Chiefs Heritage Jersey and I can't say I'm too impressed for $200. They are Adidas jerseys but the sponsor logos on the arms and back and the Adidas logo on the front are all printed as part of the design. The Chiefs logo itself is pretty much a sticker. The Adidas stripes on the shoulder are also printed as opposed to being embroidered. I also think it fits a bit tighter than the current ones do and they are already tight fit. Definitely looks good but doesn't feel $200 worth.

When I compare my 2011 ABs jersey and my 2014/15 jersey with my 2015 AB they abandoned the embroidered detailing for stick on ones. I like the old school quality feel of the embroidered stuff

I inherited this jersey from my old mans work when they moved office, signed by the entire 2000 squad - Lomu, Cully, Tana etc. Used to go to every game with him back in those days as we had season tickets. Some great memories even if we lost as much as we won

just call it your 'lived experience' and you're sweet as bro, postmodernism to the rescue and anyone who corrects you is an oppressor.
