No, there were interviews with him before he signed with the Reds. He clearly said he wanted to play for the Wallabies.

Weren’t those interviews published after he wasn’t offered a contract by Auckland/ the Blues? I might have it wrong, but I remember him being for Australia after not being offered a contract by Auckland and the Blues?

@gt12 No, I remember it from when the first clips of him playing school rugby started to appear in the media. So quite early on.

@gt12 No he definitely said it whist at school, he said it once he got famous after dominating Kelston in a game. I know the Blues get criticised a lot for poor recruitment but they can't be blamed for this one.
