NRL 2019

James Roberts is a fucking grub
Really entertaining game in the end. Damien Cook is a brilliant player
-
@mariner4life Yeah unnecessary cheap shot on Oates. Cook back to his best tonight with Walker and Liam Knight having a big game. Haas and David Fifita were Brisbane's best.

Warriors are pumped again, this time by Cronulla 42-16. Although this is the norm for Warriors teams this decade questions about Kearney as coach will start to make it into the media this week.
If they lose by a big score in their final home game of the season next week I except he will be gone.

I'm not that hopeful

It can't just be the coach when the same shit happens most years no matter who is in charge
I now blame Tony Iro
And Kearney who is a proven failure before he got to Mt Smart
We're garbage. The squad is garbage. The game plan is garbage. We're shit to watch even when we are jagging a win.
-
@mariner4life Tony Iro is the first person who Brian Smith needs to fire. How he has managed to remain a coach for this whole decade (and through different ownership as well) is quite bizarre.
I would fire Iro, move Stacey Jones into the box alongside Kearney (if he is still head coach) and have a talk to Blake Green about retiring and becoming the new water boy. Then maybe sign either Sam Williams or Adian Sezer from Canberra since both are on the out there.
Also bring John Ackland back in some scouting/development role.

Any watching the league? Haas makes a huge run to bail the Broncos out, and the darius boys dies with the ball.
The Broncos would be an infinitely better team without him
The smug Bennett sitting in the coaches box after beating the Broncos is an image for the ages. I’ve never liked the Rabbits and still don’t, but they do play some decent footy. Boyd has been rubbish for two seasons.

Fuck Wayne Bennett. That's two clubs he has left with a fucked roster.

Sacking Nathan Brown went well for the Knights
-
So this is still a big problem in the PI community. Good to shine a light on it for younger players coming through
-
2nd half run metres. 633 to 250. Be a bit more now.
The warriors are a disgrace
-
Geez the Warriors are terrible. They're slow to get off the ground, they're unfit, they struggle to move sideways on defence once the ball goes 2 passes off the ruck and yet all you hear is how the refs always pick on them. They wouldn't give away half the amount of penalties if they weren't so unfit.

But Corvo?

Used to watch Olsen in the 70s playing for mangre east , he was a unique talent, built a bit like laumpe with the explosive power and pace off the mark, with ball skills , playing against backs that were a lot smaller in that era.
Never really got to the level he should’ve in Sydney , spent too much time in reserve grade , I think the Aussie coaches in that era had no idea how to handle a shy Polynesian kid. That series in 85 when he was selected from reserve grade , and was the man of the series outplaying Wally Lewis was an amazing story.

Was at Mt Smart Stadium last night to watch the final home game of the season and it was obvious a lot of the players had already signed off for the season. Except Adam Blair, he was actually trying.
We didn't actually watch much of the match itself (not that there was much to watch) but rather talked about what actually went wrong this season compared to last year's effort when we nearly finished top of the standings.
The common themes were Kearney's poor roster management and game strategy. He picked the wrong players for the wrong positions, went with the same old veterans instead of bringing in the new talent, and tried to stick with a split field attack (halfback right side, stand off left side) that teams have figured out.
It's also apparent that we need our star player closer to the ball for the whole 80 minutes so if the Warriors want to improve they need to move Roger Tuivasa-Sheck into stand off and put the club's best prospect Hayze Perham at fullback. Kodi Nikorima can share hooking duties with Karl Lawton making the spine: 1. Perham 6. Tuivasa-Sheck 7. Green/Harris-Tevita 9. Nikorima/Lawton.
They still need help in the front row but would be better off searching the NSW Cup and QLD Cup for guys looking for an opportunity instead of throwing first tier money at second tier players. Two players I would scout are Lachlan Timm (Dragons) and Jordan Grant (Mackay Cutters).

@Sneakdefreak time for RTS to do a Lockyer. He could be a very dominant no6

Jarred Hayne basically did that for the eels too. I don't think Kearney has enough imagination but I'm not sure his contract will make moving him easy

One of the tries we scored was because Tuivasa-Sheck was at stand off. He got the ball quickly from dummyhalf, shaked and baked a defender and set up the centre to score. He's also developed a kicking game so it's the most obvious thing to do (move him to standoff) but Kearney needs to kick his conservative mindset to the curb if the Warriors want to improve.
