Ashton Turner with 84 off 43.
He was meant to be carrying drinks. Stoinis had a last minute injury
The partnership between Khawaja and Handscomb was great. They didn't panic.. which is unusual for recent Australian sides. Also unusual was Khawaja having two good scores in a row
Turner's inning was fun but he did benefit from the wheels falling off Inida's fielding

So we won the series 3-2 after trailing 2-0 - apparently never done against India in India before in a 5-match series or some shit. Anyway, here is the message conversation between me and a mate starting last night:
10PM last night
Me: "Fuck just turned on the cricket - that isn't enough runs"7AM today
Him: "Turns out it was. India sucked"
Me: "Myes. And ten years ago I would have said 'Of course - fucking STRAYA mate' but these days I just think 'bookie'"
Him: "Ah. Yes."That's my thinking at the moment - we've been slapped around for too long to think otherwise. Having watched the "Moments" in the Indian run chase, I must say there is some interesting shot selection, particularly the two stumpings.
-
Pitch was a bit of a nightmare though. I watched the first 20 overs or so and the comms were insistent that 250 would be a pretty tough score to chase. Or maybe they were in on it too.
Nice to see Usman finding form. Winning an ODI series in India without Warner and Starc is pretty impressive.
-
That’s a very good series win for Australia. Waj excellent and their bowling lineup stepped up.
What was impressive is that there were several moments in the series where I thought OZ hadn’t done enough or allowed too much and then were able to find a way to win. Langer’s playing career really!
-
coming back from 0-2 to win a series has barely ever happened, so it's a pretty big deal.
To do it in ODI cricket on the back of the Waj's bat makes it even more inbelievable. Proving to the Aussies that there is still room in the top order for a guy that plays cricket shots, you don't just pick 6 guys who moon it around in the big bash. (you would think Kohli scoring like 20 technically correct hundreds against them would have drummed the lesson in).
-
Where does this leave Warner? I think he comes back into the side but this opening combo of Waj and Finch appears to be the right mix.
Warner and Finch? Not sure about it.

Finch goes
I know he got a 90 recently but that was an anomaly. In general he's been struggling for form and scoring slowly
-
They're back.
Top win. That ground averages 227 for first innings, I believe.
Was nice putting the boot in for Aus calamities for the last 12 months but JL looks like he's ironing out the creases.
Interesting dilemma ahead, players like Finch and the 2 suspended aren't allowed to captain
-
@Duluth I agree he’s been struggling but he’s the current captain and I can’t see who the other options are at this point.

Yes the lack of other options is saving him right now
After the suspensions end Smith can be ODI captain

ah the mankad, guaranteed to get people frothy for no apparent reason.
There was one over night in the IPL, and of course people are weighing in. Warnie, professional flog for hire, is of course outraged that someone would go against the spirit of the game like that. Warnie. Spirit of the game. fuck off you flog.
Of course there is support each way, but it's mainly outrage.
If you don't want to get mankaded, don't fucking back up too far, it's pretty fucking easy isn't it?

I'm all for a Mankad, but I didn't think Buttler had backed up too far. If hte bowler had delivered, his bat would have been in the crease when the ball let go... so if I'm TMO, I'm giving that 'dead ball not out'

and i am more than happy for that argument to be made. But to just dismiss as "against the spirit" is fucking stupid IMO.

Meanwhile, on a concrete road bed, the Aussies have reeled off two wins against Pakistan.
Finch scored back to back centuries. Always liked that g-

Fuck Finch. Fat bastard is a specialist Captain who takes the odd catch at this point.
Forget I spoke.
-
Mankading is a funny one. Despite the outrage that always comes with it, I don't have a problem with it. The non striker should keep their ground.
Interestingly, it's not the first time that Buttler has been dismissed this way. Last time he got a warning first and was then run out in an international vs Sri Lanka. I wonder if he has a reputation amongst players for trying it on too much?

Interesting selection coming up, you have 2 openers scoring heavily recently then along comes Davey W, back from purgatory
Not too mention the crying lesbian, first time in a long time your odi side is looking actually good
