This clash does seem a needless own goal when we are hosting the RWC.

More brilliant work by Mark Robinson and his gang....

Both games will be on Stan in Aus so will fire up the laptop and tv at the same time.

You might need the iPad going too because I reckon there’s a Blackcaps game on.

Refs for the QFs. The breakdown was a mess when Barrett-Theron did the NZ-Aust game.

Journo - “shouldn’t you have been aware of when your teams were playing?”
NZRU - “yes and we were”
Journo - “well quite obviously you weren’t “
NZRU - “as an organisation we were but the people that needed to know didn’t “

    😀😀😀

NZ v Wales quarter clashes with the ABs v Japan.

I guess that the RWC draw was done way before the ABs confirmed their game. BFs were always sceduled as host to have their quarter in that slot, at that ground wherever they finished after pools.

I think I will have to decide which one to watch live as flicking between Sky and Spark is bound to be a pain.

    ABs every time

    Absolutely.

Call me a chauvinist but it’s not even close.

going by previous match ups, Japan shouldnt really be a contest...therefore, if it is, it means we are playing shite, and I've bailed on enough AB games this year...plus I got sponsor tickets to the BF game in the flash seats

Definitely if the choice is the live RWC experience then that’s an easy choice.
AB Japan game will be more about analysing how the seconds go.
BFs game may also be a done deal result wise but this will go down as an iconic RWC like 87 for the men’s game.

To be fair the list of things I’d rather do than watch the Black Ferns is extremely long

Really? I am seriously enjoying watching this RWC. It’s like hopping into a Delorean and going back to the early days of pro rugby in the men’s game. Not as programmed and defence oriented. Lots of opportunities for skill to show out.

Pretty fucking incompetent, they should fucking resign. Again

NZR admitted not understanding the World Cup rules. “When Japan Rugby set the kick-off time for the All Blacks Test, NZR did not take into account ... that the host nation would play in the quarter-final two timeslot,” it read.

France with the lead v Italy as expected but they aren’t looking that good. They try to go wide but Italy catching them behind the advantage line or forcing an error every time.
I’m sure that if they just hit it up they would make easy ground but so far I am not seeing much that the BFs couldn’t handle.

Very strange game. Italy look to have no chance of even scoring but are handling France fairly easily on defence.
I suspect the France coaches will remind them where their strengths are at half time.

Oz just scored a very good try through a midfield break against England. Good signs for us.

I am seriously wondering if it is a thing with the refs as a group that they are allowing players latitude to get away from the back of the ruck.
So many examples that would be pinged in the mens game that are let go. Just watch England do it 3 times in one play.
Cocksedge was going nuts at the ref yesterday about it (and the hands all over the ball). Ref just shrugs it off. Although someone may have had a word in her ear at halftime as she did tidy things up a bit second half.

    England bt Oz 39-5

    Predictable win and predictable play.
If England have any other tricks they are keeping them well hidden.

    Replying to this here:

@taniwharugby said in Japan v All Blacks:

@Crucial I do wonder if they need a size 4.5 ball for womens rugby, slightly lighter and smaller than the mens size 5, but not as small as the ones they use for some kids grades

There have been discussions about this among women's rugby experts (coaches, current and former players) - I think one or two years ago - and the main view seemed to be that they should focus on coaching and improving skills and keep playing with the size 5 ball. They considered there is still plenty of room for improvement through coaching.
