You lift a man off his feet, you put your time on the park in the hands of the ref.
This. You have to be smart. That was not smart.

dont you need to be able to trace/prove your Whakapapa?
Yep, but it’s a NZ team so you need to be an NZ player - e.g. Quade can’t as he’s an Oz contracted player.

@nepia well that kinda goes without saying...Ranger was unable to prove his Whakapapa so could not be selected for the Maori years back.
Abel has the lineage, played for Auckland, so qualifies?
Yeah, wasn’t suggesting he doesn’t qualify right now. Just that he could return to Oz and pick up a Super contract (for injury etc).

@stargazer was that his dad that played for Ngati Porou East Coast back in the day..?
-
@steven-harris Don't know, but makes sense, since he is from Gisborne.

Yep.

I reckon it would have been a much better game if Italy had played the USA and the Maori had played Ireland.
-
@steven-harris It's a pity this game is played outside the international window. The Eagles are missing quite a few of their Europe based players. It's also why Italy wasn't full strength (no Parisse, for example).

9.18 A player must not lift an opponent off the ground and drop or drive that player so that their head and/or upper body make contact with the ground.
