@nepia Fakatava looks class. I hope the Canes have signed him to a long term deal.
I doubt it, haven't they got that guy Carlos Price all locked in?

Scrum penalty, lineout, maul, try

I don't think the Canes have even signed him yet, there's probably a 17 year Wellingtonian they need to lock up first.

Did any of those last two passes look forward to anyone other than me?
The one to Martin did to me with my Magpies googles on.
Where was TMO Mr. Dockery when we needed him?

One advantage of this tough game today is that we're now better prepared for the battle of the bays. Just wins over easier opponents was never going to be enough, with BOP going well.
Just hope that Ash and Brad are okay and available for the next game. We just can't lose that experience; the second half made that very clear.

No, Fakatava has not been signed by the Canes, or anyone else.
So, I think you're right - the 17 year old halfback in Wellington has been signed.

Was very noticeable in the game the number of times CM went past the ball and took out HB defenders at the ruck. Only got penalised once I think, which was in their own 22 and Falcon kicked the penalty to put us 25-22 in front.
Also CM seemed to have the advantage out wide, particularly in the second half, with the 2nd, centre or fb going wide and, when tackled, in-passing to a team mate who went through.
A frustrating game - was winnable, but in the end, not quite good enough.
I feel this year is one year too early for this team to succesfully challenge for the Championship.
It is almost certain Ash Dixon will not play against BOP due to his injury, and could miss more after that.
Brad Weber looked alright at the aftermatch - whereas Ash Dixon had a very uncomfortable stiff leg.
Higgins - you asked earlier in the thread where Trent Boswell-Wakefield was: answer he injured a pectoral muscle in a club match against Hastings RS and didn't play again in the Maddison Trophy.
-
@number-10 Disappointing that Ash is injured; he's been massive in the first games. I guess Ben Power will start now, and Jacob Devery will take the bench spot.
Agree with you about it being too early for a Ch'ship title challenge; the team is too green. I do hope we'll reach the semis. Obviously, it doesn't all depend on us. Southland will keep their wooden spoon, Waikato seems to struggle and all other Ch'ship teams are mixed bags; only BOP seems to stand out and is probably the favourite for the title. Yuck, I can't believe I just wrote that.

Tough game guys.
Counties were infringing round the ruck against BoP too. Almost under instructions in the second half, their game plan changed notably.
At least you got the bonus points. Something we haven’t managed yet this season.
Tough battle coming next week

@bopred Did that Counties halfback also cheat in the game against the Steamers? I mean, constantly delaying putting the ball in the scrum (& the Magpies being penalised for pushing too early)? He kept doing it until he was finally penalised, but that was after about 10 scrums or so. It looked deliberate. It made my blood boil.
