@barbarian Butler went to custard in the Raptors series. Dribbling around for 14-18 seconds of the shot clock, going away from the post etc.
He’s a good player but I’m not a fan and it’s been a trail of destructive locker rooms that have followed him. A poor man’s Kawhi and PG.
Agree to disagree. He's no Kawhi, but he's IMO one of the 10 best players in the league.

We will have to on this one because I have Kawhi, Giannis, LBJ, KD, AD, Harden, PG, Curry, Westbrook, Lillard, Kyrie - all above him.
He’d be in that ‘next crop’ for me with the likes of Embeid, Middleton, Chris Paul, Klay, Kemba, Derozan, Aldridge,

When Simmons and Embiid were faltering he took the big shots. He hated playing with Wiggins and CAT in Minny because of their supposed lack of professionalism. I wonder how he will get on with Hassan Whiteside....

Another big move - De'Angelo Russell signs with the Warriors, who then trade Iguodala to Memphis.
And just like that the Warriors are major contenders again.
I don't know about that, although they will still be in the mix. So they traded away one of their important glue guys, brought in a one year all star who needs the ball...

De'Angelo Russell
D'Angelo Russell comes across as a guy who can be an all-star on a bad team, maybe get them to the play offs, but a problem on a team wanting to win a championship. Better off somewhere like Charlotte than Golden State.

I actually think this is a very shrewd move by the Warriors. Russell needs a bit of fine tuning and he could get that at the Warriors.

It’s astonishing some of the numbers in the contracts/offers. Bobby Portis $31m for a 2-year deal?????? He’s worth $8m tops.

He’s goneski. Off to the Blazers. Harkless and Leonard to Heat.
Miami somehow trying to make a move for both Wall and Beal, which seems impossible cap wise

Could be a sign and trade deal as the Wolves were interested in Russell.

And now we wait for Kawhi, who has the fate of the 2019/20 season in his hands.
If he signs with the Raptors or Clippers then we have the most open season in at least a decade, with 10-15 teams in with a shot of winning.
If he signs with the Lakers he creates another Superteam who will be the overwhelming favourites to win the title.
I really want him to do the former, not the latter. But God knows what goes through the mind of that man.

AD, Kawhi, LeBron, Kuzma, Iggy would be an insane team (needs a few more backcourt players).
If Leonard wants to win, and he sees the Nets as a big challenger on the horizon, the Lakers are the obvious choice. He doesn't strike me as a particularly ego driven guy. He is driven to win though
-
@TeWaio said in NBA season 2018/19:
@canefan Only Robert Horry and John Salley have won titles with 3 different teams (also Steve Kerr if you including coaching). LeBron and Kawhi might be motivated to join that list!
The Brooklyn situation couldn't have come at a worse time for the Raptors. The balance of power has been upset now. Unless Kawhai thinks he'll stay and roll the dice for a year before KD comes back

Is he? I haven't got a clue what drives him. If it was the pursuit of victory alone, why did he leave the most successful team over the last two decades?
This post season proved he can win wherever the hell he wants to. He's good enough to take a team to the title.
The question is does he want to do it in LA, and then beyond that does he want to have his own team (Clippers) or be third banana to Lebron in arguably the greatest superteam of all time.
