NBA draft lottery today, into Game 1 of Warriors vs Blazers.
Lottery is very important this year, with Zion being the prize for whoever comes up first. But more than that, there is only 4-5 top tier players in the pool (according to most pundits) so it will be crucial to get a high pick.
Cleveland, Phoenix and the Knicks all have a 14% chance of the top pick, with the Bulls on 12%, Atlanta at 10% and Washington at 9%. Anything outside of that would surprise (Pelicans, Memphis and Dallas at 6%, Minnesota 3%, Lakers 2%).
The Cavs seem to have been kissed on the dick by the Lottery gods, so I'm tipping they get the top pick.

As for the Warriors/Blazers, this has all the hallmarks of a Warriors sweep IMO.
Portland are ravaged by injury, and I think the Denver series was their grand final. Lillard needs to produce something special, but he's looked very tired in the last few games he's played.
They might pinch a game or two, but I can't see this going the distance.
-
Haha, that's great. The disappointed groans from fans and media when the Grizzlies and Pelicans jumped the Lakers and Knicks is awesome.
-
Man imagine if the lakers got it. Would have been crazy.
So funny the knicks didn't get it. I feel for the fans its kind of like supporting the NZ Warriors. You think you finally get some pieces together (melo/Porzingas, Johnson/Foran/RTS/Luke) then nope.

I like Zion on the Pelicans, and now the AD decision becomes even more fascinating.
I also like what the new draft odds delivered. Is this the death of tanking? What's the point of throwing a season away if you're only going to end up with the 6th pick?
Three of the top four teams in this draft were actively trying to make the play-offs for the vast bulk of the season.

David Griffin has a big carrot to dangle in front of AD now. Or they can use him to make a major improvement to the squad if he still wants to go. One thing is certain, my Lakers will find a way to fark up their pick

Knicks - ahahaha suck it!
Lakers slightly less - ahahaha suck it!Lakers have actually improved their position. The Knicks were tanking and got what they deserved. If rumours are right they are going to get KD and KI next season anyway
-
Knicks probably miss out on KD & KI and overpay for Jimmy Butler and Kemba Walker instead.

@canefan I reckon KI goes to Lakers.
I heard that rumour. He probably realizes how good he had it playing with LBJ

I think KD is too sensitive to survive the NY media spotlight. He should stay right where he is and rack up the trophies along with all that money
-
@Sneakdefreak Kemba and Butler two very strong personalities. They can take the NYC fan hate but can they play together?

At least they would have had no room to stuff it up if they did. Zion is the hands down pick, you would be mad to pass on a talent like that, even if there are no guarantees. LA have picked in the top 4 of the draft 3 times in 4 years
2015 D'Angelo Russell (#2). KAT was #1, Kristop Porzingis was the only other notable
2016 Ingram (#2). Simmons was #1, Kris Dunn, Buddy Hield and Jamal Murray were other notables
2017 Ball (#2). Fultz was #1, LA passed on Fox, Tatum, and Donovan MitchellThe only really bad whiff appears to be the 2017. Magic should put his hand up for that one, any of those 3 guys so far are better than Ball
And they gave away Zubacs to the Clips, when they weren't even asking for him. He was a good energy player. LA are a total dumpster fire at the moment, and will find a way to fuck this up too probably
