    12. John Schuster

    14. Charles Piutau
    15. Matthew Ridge

Someone will probably come up with better picks for 7, 10 (McAlister takes his rightful place at 12 then), and 11.

Frank Halal. He actually made the All Blacks.

    He's muslim now?

Of every ferner who could have spotted my auto correct error it is so apt that it was you.

@nepia I loved John Schuster back then. My brother and I would yell "Johnny the Shoe" at the TV like the couple of little idiots we were.

For a while it looked like he was edging Richie, then 2 seconds later - bang Richie is a legend. Josh Blackie was unlucky not to be capped in that era.

Aside from the pre Holah/McCaw period, we have produced an amazing crop of sevens in the professional era. Damn Blowers doing his knee.

@nepia I remember reading that Canterbury and Otago had some gentlemans agreement not to poach each others schoolboys and Otago signed Harding so Canterbury got Richie .

@nepia I don't rate him, but I was meaning when we were playing Taine Randell at 7.

Why do you hate Hastings so much? πŸ˜‰ TBF, I thought Blowers was overrated.

I think Randell was just a fill in? But wasn't it Robertson who was the actual guy in the gap.

@nepia Great link player, mediocre defender, gave away a lot of ruck penalties even if he got a lot of turnovers.

Blowers defence was brutal, his workrate we high, and he had real pace. Then he fucked his knee up.

Ron Jarden, retired from all rugby at only 26. Scored 145 tries from 134 first class games. Considered the best winger in the world at the time. Gave it away to further his career.
What’s worse he died age only 47

Was thinking the same thing. Kronfeld can't have liked it much either , leaving as soon as he could .
