Chiefs 2019

Is he going to play Warrenball or adapt a style to NZ. I assume he'll play a mix.
If we are hard to score against, with a rock solid set piece, then DMAc and ALB can take care of the rest.
Type of coach that might attract players as well?
I'll still wait for something more official
Hopefully the drop in pressure from being in charge of Wales/Lions will remove the grumpy from his ass.

I'm waiting for @Stargazer to post it before I believe it's 100% true.
I wonder if he'll turn into Hansen who always used to come across as grumpy before his dry-ish humour started being shown.

haha you mean when he started coaching a team we supported?

I think alot of what Gatland says has a touch of humour in it, it just aint funny when French refs have a deal!
-
Next priority for NZR is to get Joe Schmidt to Blues in 2021
Joe gets a year off to spend time with family in NZ
Leon gets to learn off a maestro and NZ rugby keeps more rugby IP
-
love how Cooper annouces his 'retirement' then Gatland already lined up to get in there.. that would have been months in the making with all the moving parts to make that happen...
I would have thought if the chiefs wanted cooper to stick around they would have offered him an assistant coach position cause you know "My passion is ‘hands-on’ on-the-field coaching"..
so obviously wanted him gone.

@Stockcar86 Not a bad idea at all.
I must admit that I checked my list of signings to see for how long Jono Gibbes was contracted to La Rochelle, but that's until June 2022.
problem with getting guys back is that they'd have to take a massive pay cut to do so.. Gats is ok cause he's still got the Lions gig and potentially AB's down the line
Jonno still young, only enticement for him would be family.. but that didn't stop him from leaving so wouldn't bring him back!
-
It's being reported on Fox Sports now.
-
well fuck me. Those crazy bastards actually did it.
This is pretty big for NZ rugby. Imagine what his pay cut is?
-
@mariner4life Gatland won't be coming back for the money. The Welsh and Lions gigs will be his main earners.

@Nepia When Gatland coached Waikato the backs played very expansively while the forwards were well-drilled.
It comes down to the cattle you have to work with.
One only has to look at the different way Wales play.
-
@mariner4life expect he managed to bank enough coin while in Wales
