Uh oh, who’s going to replace him? 😳
Anyone? I'm available. What about you @nepia? we could dual coach them and do a better job
The Waikato-Magpies Chiefs has a nice ring to it!

What about the Waikato - Bay Chiefs. That way we incorporate both.

This is interesting:
Cooper said he would now take a break to consider his future. “The role of the head coach has evolved so much over the past five or six years. My passion is ‘hands-on’ on-the-field coaching, but with bigger playing numbers and more staff involved these days, I am getting taken further and further away from my passion. So, I will take some time out with my family and discuss our future.”

Was Cooper really that bad? The initial woes for the Chiefs were DMac at first five. The team just couldn't gel with him there. It was mostly on the up after that.
Sure they didn't over achieve but they finished about where they should for the squad and injuries they had.
they were fcuking horrible.
the only reason they got to where they did was via some unbelievable individual performances and 'team mana'.
the coached 'stuff' sh*thouse. The team turned up barely looking like they knew each other and had no idea what the gameplan was.
the defensive structure was straight out of the 90's - every team at pretty much every level is using some sort of rush defence. Chiefs were using a sliding d that hasn't been seen for years. Fcuk it was painful watching teams as woeful as the Blues just spin it wide and finding acres of space.
And he kept picking that farking woeful excuse for a rugby player MMac at 1st - that in itself should be enough to consign him to the sh*thouse heap - along with his stints at Canes and Maoris.
onwards and upwards! Couldn't give a rats if he's a nice guy - I want someone who can coach not win personality contests.

Not to sure how I feel about Cooper stepping down. Sure his two years were average, but we got to the playoffs. I dunno, he was alright. I just don't know who will replace him. I'd be happy with Gatland but he won't be available for a couple of years. Shit.

@WillieTheWaiter testify brother
DMac at 10 was the easy scapegoat, but those early weeks we were appalling across the park. We were completely reliant upon a couple of individuals trying to do individual shit to bail out a team play just so badly. It really did look like they met in the carpark. The forward play in particular was shithouse, no one seemed to know their role.

Who else were they supposed to select, with Dmac and Falcon out for the season and Debreczeni injured for most of the time as well? They tried Leger and that didn't work? They tried Beaver twice as well, and he was woeful, too.
