We're fucked if we don't get the boks in RC long term, don't care about SR, but do for RC
Laporte absolutely hates NZR for not letting the French clubs sign up current ABs. He'd love to fuck over the ABs.
Oh, for heaven sake.
Hopefully, this will remain the dumbest thing I will read today.

@Rapido Are you a fan of loose-cannon Laporte?
It's not whether I'm a fan or not.
It's that you have invented an opinion you think he holds and then invented a ridiculous motivation for his invented opinion.
-
@sparky I think you’ll find their fan base is pretty sick of the site of us and IMO many NZ fans are bored as shit with the Springboks. I am one of them.
The RC has become stagnant. Adding the Argies was good but it’s not the spectacle it once was.

@Rapido I have invented nothing but passed on what that I've been told many times, but thank you for your feedback.
It doesn't make any sense Sparky. Unless he also hates the RFU, WRU, IRFU, RA, SARU and UAR for the same reasons. The man must be full of hate.

Really?
That's interesting. I'm not sick of it. Boks twice a year is fine and they are one of the few teams that really challenge us and always have historically.
If it is stagnant, what would you change? The 5 nations still seems to captivate fans (deliberately left out the 6th one, like the Force, they add nothing).

Hey come on now, Italy have done a lot for Scottish Rugby in that competition.

a number of reasons for that. It's nearly the perfect sporting competition
Geography. Not only same timezones, but very close to each other. It's easy for away fans to head to the host city and get amongst it.
History: Been going for ever. The countries have been rivals for hundreds of years before that.
Less is more: Play each other once a year. And at your house every 2. And every game means something. You drop a game and you might be fucked for the competition
If SANZAR were in charge of the 6N, Georgia would have been added, and it would be home and away (with France and England playing another test as well).
Even thought the on-field product doesn't always deliver, i envy the 6N

@Snowy I think there would be a majority of NZ fans that feel the same as you do mate. But there are more and more of us that are over TRC.
So tours then? Like most of us have wanted for a long time. Mid week games, etc? A 3 test series against the Boks every 2 years with mid week against Bulls, Stormers, et al?
What are the other options? Just shut down the ABs? We've got to be in some matches somewhere.

Yeah. It is a great competition. Maybe that is where TRC should go. One match against each country, alternating years home and away, if fans really are jaded by it.

Yeah in an ideal world where money was not the driving force. I really don't know what the options are either. I just know how I feel about a Boks vs Abs test. Or vs Australia. The Lustre is less. Not gone, just less.

As I said - we gotta play somebody. Will that become boring too? There really are only eight good teams in rugby at any one time, sometimes fewer.
-
As I said, I don't know what the options are. I'm just being honest that the regularity at which we play the Bok & Wallabies, added to (usually in any normal year) seeing these players over and over in Super Rugby has made it less of an event for me. I will always enjoy AB's rugby, so long as I'm lucky enough to see it. But I miss unfamiliarity, I guess. The unknown quantity that only NH powerhouses can now offer.
