From the media release quoted in my previous post:
... champion Crusader a peer-voted award for the player's contribution to the team environment.

@Chris-B I like Jordan, but Makalio is probably a more important signing. The Crusaders have plenty of good outside backs, but Makalio is the only good sub for Taylor. Funnell is always injured and doesn't seem to be of SR level anymore, while McAlister is too green.

@Stargazer Great stuff - especially Will Jordan!
Isn't there some noise about Jordan being eligible for the Scots?

@Stargazer Yeah Agree with that I was very Keen for Makalio to resign. He has been getting better and better for the Crusaders over the last 2 years, he's been outstanding this season.Adds impact of the bench and when he has started been very very good. Was worried the Blues may grab him but we retained him important re-signing .

Ronan O’Gara to depart BNZ Crusaders for La Rochelle
Published: 12 June 2019BNZ Crusaders Backs Coach Ronan O’Gara has confirmed the 2019 season will be his last with the Christchurch-based club, having accepted a coaching role with French club, La Rochelle. O’Gara said: “My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Christchurch and were welcomed in to the Crusaders family with open arms when we arrived in early 2018. This is one of the best rugby clubs in the world, and it certainly wasn’t an easy decision to move on from this team and their high-performance environment. “I’m grateful to the Crusaders for the faith they’ve shown in me as a coach, and I’m incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside a world-class playing and management group for the last two seasons. While I see this move to La Rochelle as the next step in my coaching career and an exciting opportunity for my young family, I’d like to think, long-term, this is not necessarily the end of my time with the Crusaders. “My focus now is helping to deliver a successful 2019 campaign with the side before my family and I return to France at the end of the season,” O’Gara said. @Chris Do you have a FB account and are you signed in? That might be the issue.
In the interview Reece tells about how he got the call from Robertson and could hardly believe it. In the video, you can still see the surprise on his face when he continues how it was for preseason only (initially) and how awesome (and unbelievable) it was that he got to play for the Crusaders, and now a QF. He never expected to be a Crusader and he loves it in Chch; in the city and in the squad; how nobody judges him and how he can just ask questions and everybody is there to become better.

“I’m a Christchurch boy now”
Great to hear hopefully it means we have him signed up for next season soon.
Apparently the Crusaders have Paula Bale helping out as a mentor for Sevu. When I heard that it brought back some fond memories
