@Unite Crusaders being 3-0 probably helps as well,no need rush the heavy hitters back so soon especially if he needs more recovery time.

The Crusaders Knights lost to the Highlanders Bravehearts on Saturday (19 - 43).

    eb5a3db2-d93c-464c-a816-89c42155a035-image.png

Several U20s players in that line-up. Don't recognise all names (Kane Le'aupepe, Michael Curry, Te Ahiwaru Cirikdaveta, Nic Souchon, Sam Matenga, Samu Tawake, Jacob Norris).

Are Rupena Parkinson and Zack McKay related to Pari Pari Parkinson and Josh McKay?

Interview with Razor after the Brumbies game.
Includes injury updates on Bridge (fitness test on Monday, but looking good), Douglas (sore foot) and Sanders (had shoulder reconstruction; out for about 6 months).

@Chris It had to be this week or next week against the Sharks, considering they're travelling to SA the week after the Sharks game, and play 2 NZ derbies after their return. Unless they leave some of their ABs at home during the SA tour, they'll rest a few more ABs next week. I think Mo'unga still has to miss one; maybe Crotty and Goodhue, too (although they won't rest those two at the same time)?

@Stargazer Yep considering all their Allblacks it must have been tough along with injuries juggling all of this.Makes it even more impressive where they stand on the table.

TBF, they have by far the best depth of any NZ team, they'd have to go deep with injuries to roll out the NPC level teams the Chiefs have put out this year.

I thought the rule was that no ABs were supposed to play more than five games in a row (though it's hard to tell with various exemptions)?

Given that the Crusaders have seven games to their second bye, in theory everyone should rest at least once - and to the letter of the law, Barrett and Todd should actually miss a second game - but, I'd imagine that Razor has negotiated an exemption on this seven game stretch.

@Chris-B No, it is six games in a row. If they rest Barrett and Todd against the Lions, they can play them in all other 6 games before their next bye. This is already their second mandatory rest week.

This year, All Blacks players were limited to 180 minutes of action through the opening three rounds of Super Rugby and must observe two stand down weeks during the season addition to their team's bye weeks. During the stand down weeks, the player is required to leave the team environment allowing him to switch off and refresh.

Players are also limited in how many matches they're allowed to play in a row. While many thought the number was five in a row, Anthony confirmed players could in fact play six in a row.

"We had initially talked around five but with some feedback from clubs we revised that to six. If a bye falls in the middle of six games, say in round three, then that restarts back to one again. If it's broken by a bye or rest week then it resets and you can go six again.

@Stargazer I've been reading the wrong articles! 🙂

So all the Crusader's ABs will have to miss one game in this stretch. Given our six point buffer I wonder whether Razor was tempted to rest them all in the same game - I think it was the Stormers used to pull that trick occasionally in the days of Super12/14 during their Australasian tour.
