Also, Jacko is a shit ref. Inconsistent. Weird that they stopped the try to look at O Franks foul play, and then just went' ok, nothign to see here'. I suspect a visit to the judiciary is coming.

I think the reason why he was not carded was not because they thought he didn't deserve one, but because they spotted it too late (after the try was scored?). Under the rules, they couldn't do anything anymore. I expect a couple of weeks suspension.

Cheers @Stargazer - and they wonder why people don't go to the rugby any more. In american football they tell the crowd the reason for the penalties (or why the picked up flags). In Rugby, if you're at the ground, it's just FARK YOU FOR COMING DOWN

In american football it takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to play a game that's 1 hour long.

Not so sure about that uncontested lineout try by the Crusaders

Intelligent (and good use of the laws) play by both sides and when the Crusaders twigged to keep Strange holding the ball at the front, all was good and I guess that's an open play situation.

But the blues went for that play with Ofa ready to tackle the ball carrier thus ending a potential rolling maul.

All good until Ofa is deliberately impeded by 2 players either side of the ball carrier.

Can't impede a tackler on a ball carrier regardless of the formation behind the ball

Yes Sumo, "you basically watched a team march over your tryline" and a defender get blocked by two players slightly in front of the ball.

Blues lineout diabolical in the first half last night. Wonder why that was? Maybe it was because the super coach started a no-name lock who joined the squad this week, rather than Nee Nee who had been with the squad for months. Didn't seem so bad once he came on ...

Yep, when it's televised. I think a bit under three hours otherwise - and it's a stop/start game.

For comparison, Rugby takes nearly 2 hours.

Also, if they go to the TMO, and then take the time to explain the call to the captains, which you hear on the comms on TV, why can't you roll that out to the crowd at the game? No extra time needed...

That's where Sports Ears are great as you get to listen to the ref and ARs, and their on-field communication with the players. Perhaps just use the big screen to say what the penalties are for?

Yeah, fair enough. Big screen would be good - but they bloody guess half the time ... need some from the Fern running the comments 🙂

Franks doesn't actually have to do things to have his suspension reduced. The only requirement is that he pretends he was going to. Remember he cut a 2 week suspension down to 1 as he missed out playing for a development team that he wasn't going to play for.

So a 'reporter' went and interviewed him specifically to ask if Frank's apologized?

Who cares....if the judiciary are Farking stupid enough to discount a sanction because he said sowwy to Parsons, then are we surprised if these apologies don't actually happen?

@No-Quarter as to the dev team thing, any coach would be a moron not to have his front line players 'scheduled' to play in games on a,bye week.

Parson is a knob, keep that stuff in house. Have a whinge to ABs management or call up franks and give him a rocket. Crying to the press cos he's got sand in his lady parts, FFS pathetic.

That's what you get when you never take off your scrum cap. He probably just didn't hear Franks say sorry. He should learn to lip read!

Anything that highlights what a joke these SANZAAR judicial hearings are is OK with me.

I don’t see anything wrong with how Parsons replied to the journalist.

His main point was about the lack of a red card during the game. With the farcical ruling about the set piece preventing further action.

If a ref sees a red card offence, even five mins later, for the protection of the players it should be given. What if Franks had stomped the head instead of the swinging arm to the head? Should we just shrug it off?

As for the reduction of the penalty, and the fantasy apology, I’m happy for it to be called out. We shouldn’t be happy that the process is a joke because it’s helping us in this instance.

I’m more worried that one of these Crusader props will act like thugs for the ABs and cost a Test match. It would be a shitty way to lose the Blesisloe.

@kirwan given we usually see the reasoning behind reduction in every sanction, which usually includes a good record, remorse, early guilty plea and an apology...maybe SANZAR just released the same BS they normally do without one even being made?

Still reckon Parsons is a sook, should just take it up with NZR, RPA or someone, same place most work related issues are dealt with, your employer, not the media.

"The apology" is only one of several mitigating factors. I doubt it would have made a difference for the length of the suspension.

Doesn’t he have a history of being out with concussion? Maybe he’s pissed off that he wasn’t protected on the field by a blatant red card offence, and then they slapped him with a wet bus ticket after the game?

I get he’s not a well liked player, but I think he has a point.

Apologising should have nothing to do with it. Otherwise, remove the pretence and have shows of remorse take 10% off. So a ban needs to be more than a couple of months for your regret to count.

@kirwan but the on-field decision vs the sanction are separate issues.

Simple fact is, the judiciary has long been a bit of a joke, so this shouldn't really surprise you!
