Blues vs Crusaders

24-32 final score. Crusaders should be embarrassed by that
Blues 12-3 second half
Some good efforts from a few individuals in that second half (Papalii and Rieko in particular)
Helped by the Crusaders dropping their standards and a yellow card though -

Rieko what a player. Holy shit.
Mounga with some unbelievable skills too. Amazing.
Akira quiet first half but really lifted defensively in the second. Some impressive stuff.
Quite a good game in the end.
Made all the more enjoyable with commentators that enjoyed the game and didn’t wank on like TJ does.

Crusaders haven’t switched on for 80minutes the last couple of weeks.
Neither have the canes, sadly
-
@machpants saving all the good stuff for the ABs

Shame Swannell didn't get another go. I thought she was excellent last week. Probably just a rotation issue. I hope it isn't a backlash to the reaction last week from some quarters.
-
Crusaders lost some focus in the second half - some soft errors - scrum penalties, pushing passes.
First half was pretty good - most of the starting players, went well.
Most concerning are the injuries - we need most hands on deck to beat the Canes.
Hansen's going to be sweating a few bullets through that game - and then he's got Hurricanes-Highlanders and Chiefs-Crusaders to get through the following week.
Not sure all is going to be lost for those who are close but just miss out tomorrow.

I think the schedules are done well in advance. At the start of the season it was announced she had two matches

From 1.6M people they could probably manage to get one Auckland commentator for the Blues games. It would be good to have some one who actually knows the players.
Willie Lose is actually good as a play by play commentator. It’s when he has time to think that it goes wrong
-
@tim agree about Ledger,he’s playing in a team that’s got a forward pack that does’nt always execute their basics, has individuals that go in fits and starts, more fits with the exception of Papalii this evening, and a halfback & first five who’s talented but needs to learn how to control a game..both halves got schooled this evening..so I reckon Ledger is the least of the Blues issues..!
-
Rieko Ioane and Richie Mo'unga were awesome tonight. Both standouts for their team.
Taufua solid again, Scott Barrett best Crusaders forward, Akira invisible in the first half; better in the second. Papali'i mixed bag, but has potential.
Hall was the best halfback on the paddock and should be the third AB halfback but it's unlikely he'll be picked. Perofeta is over-rated.
Crusaders props need a brain transplant. -

Sorry but I cannot stand that guy. Simply find him horrendous.
-
@stargazer I wonder how Perofeta would be behind a dominant pack with an experienced halfback that takes responsibility..?,
Look at Bryn Hall for example..thoughts..? -
@steven-harris He would probably be a bit better, but his decision making is off and his kicking isn't great either. Still lots and lots to learn. I hope we get to see more from Falcon before they decide on who the next specialist 10 would be from an ABs perspective (not counting Dmac as a specialist 10).
-
@steven-harris Hall has been superb since coming to the Saders. This season his game has gone up a notch. I used to find him far too erratic, but now he plays with composure and quickness. Was great to see him take on the line a bit more tonight, given the poor fringe defence of the Blues.
