Spark Sport

Tried to set up my sons ipad for it on the weekend and looks like it is too old for the version of software required to support the app so he's stuck with an old iphone 8 I had in the drawer. Small screen but will have to do him and he can of course you that device via apple play to get it on the big screen.

Speaking of; for those using Kayo Sports, you'll need a VPN to work if out of the country.

It's a very bad omen for the Spark's service when you visit the Spark Sport website to explore signing up when no games are on.... and you just get met with a blank black screen in your browser...
Hmmm i just had this too - thought i'd better get around to signing up.. in the office.. just figured it was to do with the firewall here. Are you at home and getting this?
how come I can't just open the bloody app on my TV and sign up via that!? just shows a log on screen.

It may be that the security of the TV platform (SSL certificate updates etc) may not be up to standard for payment processing.

@WillieTheWaiter Yep, that was the black screen I was getting in Chrome. It seems to be working now at home though.

Thank you for your email.
Our Broadcast team have advised that when a broadcaster is confirmed they will be added to our website www.rugbyworldcup.com
If there is no confirmed broadcaster in your territory, the matches will be streamed via our platforms for your viewing.
We hope this assists.
Form letter from RWC website. Looks like it will be streamed by World Rugby in China. Hopefully the streams will be reliable.

So the live TVNZ and Sky coverage will be more "live" than those watching games on Spark Sport.

Apart from the 1 hour delay (until the semis and final). Slightly misleading headline, again.

Been in NZ a few days and surprised at how many aren't getting on the Spark streaming for this. Seems to be a belief that they will blow it and it will become free to air anyway and if not they will just watch it delayed.
Talked to a farmer who although he does have sufficient speed where he is he is not getting it on principle. Lots of farmers in the community don't have the speed for it and they are fuming. Spark has asked them to set up a hub at the local rural school but with the government screwing farmers hard and looking to screw them harder none are able to volunteer their time to organise and set up this community hub. A lot of animosity there which is a shame because having community events for this sort of thing would be a great way to bring folk together.

@Snowy Unless you're at the pub or watching a game that is not delayed on Sky - some are live I think?
Yeah. Spark made a deal with Sky to show the matches at commercial premises (and prices) live.
So to see all 48 matches, live, 30 seconds after the event happened I have to spend around 96 hours in the pub.
Sounds pretty good really, but very expensive...

We will see how the stream/coverage of the Japan-Russia game goes first. I'm just as concerned about the SS commentary. I only watched the 1st half of the Japan-SA test live as a test run but after that, I have not missed Stevenson at all. I assume SS will be using international commentators for the other games.

@Bovidae although this one is live anyway, so maybe people will watch TV1 meaning there will be less load on Spark than is likely tomorrow....
Definitely.
This is a useful graphic about the picture quality via different devices on SS.
