@Canes4life said in [Poll] Will you use Spark to watch RWC?:
If anyone wants to watch the RWC for cheap as chips, download ExpressVPN which changes your server location. Change your server location to UK and watch ITV's free online hub which will stream all the games.
ExpressVPN costs less than $7 U.S a month.'
I have Express VPN. Have you tried the hub yet? I seem to recall trying to use it while on holiday in Fiji with my VPN activated and it not working. I might try again....

Anyone know if Spark are going to have all of the matches "on demand" (full matches, not the highlights crap that sky do)?
In the unlikely event that need to be doing something else when a good match is on, I won't be able to record it, so need an on demand full replay.

The old dilemma when the rugby is on but the missus decides that now is the time for a bit of “attention “?

EPL is live and on demand so I think so

My wife isn't that stupid (although if if it's the Blues she'd probably give it a go. Likes it a bit rough I think).

@Snowy my understanding is it is on demand so you can just watch any game any time, which is a big improvement over Sky's coverage where you'd have to record every game in case you wanted to watch it later.

Excellent. So there is an upside to having to pay a second provider (I've still got Sky).

No decision mate, rugby is on next week

@Wurzel said in [Poll] Will you use Spark to watch RWC?:
@Snowy All 48 games on demand in their entirety, available within minutes of each broadcast ending
I feel better about spending the cash (and get to have a shag, and see the matches based on @Crucial 's dilemma).
Edit - there might be a problem there - "available within minutes of each broadcast ending". If said shag was about to happen at the start of a match of 80 mins duration, I might have to wait quite some time for the on demand rugby. Problem not solved methinks...

Great problem to have

Spent the afternoon chatting to an engineer with Spark about the streaming over a beer.
Was teasing him about you only get one shot at this, if you screw up Rugby coverage this business unit is done.
Went into a lot of detail about how they are delivering the stream and all their contingency plans, what issues they’ve had to solve, was really interesting. Of course I don’t remember anything.
They certainly aren’t going to have capacity/peak problems.

Yeah that's me, 2018 model, the cnuts. But I have a laptop permanent on media duties and a Chrome cast set up, anyway. I Only really wanted it for ease of remote control usage!
Just got an email from Spark which might be of interest:
"What if I have a 2017 or 2018 LG TV?
If you have recently purchased a 2017 or 2018 LG TV and are a Spark Sport customer or have a Spark Sport voucher, you may be eligible for a supplementary device or a Spark Sport refund.
Visit our help site for more information.
If you have a 2017 or 2018 LG TV but aren’t yet a Spark Sport customer, you can still enjoy Spark Sport via a range of supporting devices. Find out more. "As you already have a "supplementary device" probably of no use but a refund might be nice.

I've signed up. Was relatively painless. I am looking forward to it.
I understand the frustration of people who don't have good broadband, however I am not concerned for myself. I use Netflix and other streaming sites all the time and Chromecast them to my TV. I think it will be fine.
